Is the air coming in from the three 180mm fans going to still be cool when it reaches the H50?
Should the H50 still be set up for a push/pull?
Thanks.

It'll be fine. Many people run it like that. Push/pull would be good too.

Ok, I need some help/suggestions.
I'm currently using a slightly modified V1000BW (top 120mm blowhole).
As you can see in my rig details, i'm running a slightly overclocked Phenom II X4 being cooled by an H50. My temps under load in a 23c room is ~54c & my slightly overclocked 5830 reaches 91c under load.
I'm torn between the Silverstone FT02 & the Lian Li V1020.
Those of you using a H50 in your rig, how do you have it mounted? Bottom intake, top intake? Anyone with a setup similar to mine? If so, what kind of temps are you getting?
Could anyone post pics of their rig with a H50 mounted in it?
Thanks.
Yes better @ top & sandwich the radiator with 2 x 120mm fan will be even better for the H50....Its funny how they made the H70 basically 2 x H50's radiator into a thick one with 2 x 120mm
yet they compare it to the slim radiator H50 with 1 x 120mm fan & really not a BIG difference!...
Just add 120mm APs or Typhoons!...Save your money before these corporations keep Nickle & Dimin' you every time a new product comes out!...:D

I'm running GT's as my intake, push/pull on the H50 & the top blowhole currently.
Are you saying the FT02 won't give me much lower temps then what i'm currently getting when you say "save your money"?

Na I love my FT02!!!...Can you post a pic of your Rig?...See how you setup your FT02...When i said "save your money" I was talkin' about H50 vs H70
When I purchased the H50 later the H70 came out...You know..."Dam I should of waited"...

Ooooo no...I don't have a FT02, I have a LL V1000BW. I'm pondering a FT02 if it'd be a good investment (i.e. lower my temps a heck of alot).
What's the length of the FT02 from front to back?

Finished last night re-organizing the cables. Here she is....hope its final...

Can we see the back of it?

I'm contemplating painting the interior of my FT02 white. I like the 2-tone appearance of the FT02-SE, but I'm just not a huge fan of the red. What do you guys think?

I have a feeling that white will be the new trend in computer case interiors in a few years time, why not get a jump start on the trend :D

Since it's color and a matter of personal preference... can't you use I ono............... your free will (and the thing lodged between your eyeballs) to decide for yourself?

looks like corsair posted USB 3.0 updates so people can upgrade their usb 2.0 for a couple of their cases. Anyone heard anything about the status of this for the FT02?

i'm dyying to get a case. It's really annoying to have your computer sitting out cause you want a certain case.

I think Silverstone guy said already they are working on it in this thread.

But anyway with the way this case is build you can buy either usb 3.0 ports for 5,25 bay or for exansion slot and have them easily accessible.

A few pages back, Tony Ou Silverstone's rep said that they are indeed working on a USB 3.0 cable upgrade. Hopefully it shows up before summer and isn't too pricey.

actually he said they could probably do something like that. i was just curious if anyone knew if they are actually following through on that. I guess no one knows anything new.

We will follow through on this, but it's still at least a couple of months away.

What brand extensions are you using? Those look pretty good.

m-i-c-k-e-y, Korben Dallas, if you can, I would recommend that you use as few extension cables as possible because they add extra resistence to power delivery.

They do look really sweet.....I bought some black ones...NZXT, I believe. In the end, I decided not to use mine because I believe, since they are wider than those sleeved cable bundles on the PSU, they impede air flow more.

@Tony: Thanks and noted!

Question Guyz: Having an 80plus Gold PSU (w/ all its blah blah blah) could help some loses from resistance right (or wrong)?

It won't help get rid of losses added due to all that extra wire and connectors. I'm not sure of whether the extra losses are worth worrying about if you are not driving your PSU to its limits, though (one could attempt to compute the extra resistance -- I've not seen this done, but the internet is a big place and GIYF). But if you desire to be as "green" as possible, then reducing losses is the way to go. Probably also from just a perfectly functioning system too...less wires & connections, better reliability.

Yep! Kind of worried also when I was donning all the connectors and stuff.

And I do also like K.I.S.S. (Keep It Sound and Simple). Maybe later I'll be doing the cables again to its orginal config + some thermal plastics to hide some unwanted stuff.

Props to the cabling, it looks sweet!!!

Did you put the second video card at the bottom for improved cooling? Been debating moving my second card to the same slot but I like having 16x16x.

I gotz my 1000W PSU I wont worry about them extra NZXT extensions I have'em & will finished my build hopefully this weekend!...If my kids let me!...:D

Have'em on my old RIG with 800W PSU & no problems @ all you cant tell the difference! with
or without NZXT cables extensions & It sure makes your build look professional:cool:

I found someone online that does custom colors on them extensions: 1st Red, 2nd Black, 3rd Red, 4th Black etc...Know what I mean...He just charges to much for them:eek:
I guess requesting color pattern sleeved cables...The labor work alone cost money!!!

Personally, I don't think I would worry about it too much. Just periodically recheck all the connections. My guess is you'll have years of problem-free operation. It's a sexy build you have there!

@Nelson.C
Yep! And it was a 10c and 600 points difference in 3dMark Advantage (Ext. Prof.). Well there are articles around the net on 16x16x and 16x8x difference.

@AQ_OC
Thanks!

Funny shit is we...Well most of us just use our RIGz for entertainment & not for stress testing on everything...
I mean really the games & apps we use does not come close to what we installed in our RIG.....
I have my old 2001 RIG & still kickin' better than most people new RIG as long as I can Use my Graphic Art, Video Editing, Gamez & Other Apps Fluidly thats all that matters to me!...

I be killing it with my T3 connection in gamez!...I cant wait til iI get my new RIG up & runnin'

Its like buyin a car...When you know whats under the hood ain't no one goin' to talk me out
of buyin' that car do to "Bench Markz Stress Testing & Added Features" They will aways come out with new product every 6M to a year & then come the ooohhhs & aaaahhhs!...Diggin' In your
pockets again!

I have a couple questions regarding the window on this case.

First, which would be quieter, the windowed version or the non-windowed version? Would there be a noticeable difference?
Second, is there more or less room (inside the case) with the windowed version or the non-windowed version? (ie: more room for tall coolers)

1 - Good question...I don't think it will be a noticeable difference...

2 -...l0l...Seriously!?...Just take a look @ it...:D

Never mind about the window design, I need more sleep I guess.
Also, on the non-windowed version, does the sound foam cover the whole panel?

The window is mounted on the outside part of the case and juts outward by the thickness of the window material. I would guess that it doesn't take any room away from the inside, and may add a tiny bit.

Oops...just released that I'm referring to the RV02B-W....so I don't know if the FT02 is the same. They are similar, but definitely not the same.

Someone earlier said they were touching the foam with the top of their thermalright silver arrow (non-windowed)

I have a windowed with a thermalright archon (taller than the thermalright silver arrow) and it fits my windowed FT02 just fine.

That was me with the Silver Arrow touching the foam in a non-windowed FT02. Do you mind posting a straight-on overhead view of your p67 Pro with the Archon and G.Skill RAM? Are they Ripjaws or Ripjaws X or something else? Is your TY-140 fan on the pull or the push side of the Archon?

Oh haven't seen your sig. 6950s intakes air form the bottom right? So not much of a problem I think. Mine takes in from the sides, that's why I had to move it on the far left.

please ignore the huge mess, haven't had time to mess with it yet, and my MB is going to get replaced in a couple weeks with the sandy bridge debacle.
To answer your questions, I actually have a p8p67 deluxe (messed up that in the sig), I have g.skill sniper ram (http://www.gskill.com/products.php?index=338) which is low profile, but it appears if i did buy the high profile ram it would have fit in the first slot with the fan in pusher config. You can't tell in the pic, but even the low profile ram I have sticks up higher than the bottom of the fan. It is pretty close though.

Thanks for that pic. Now I'm really tempted to pick up an Archon to use with two TY-140s in push/pull. Guess my goal in life is to enrich Thermalright, already sitting on Silver Arrow, Shaman and VRM G2.

Guess the Archon blocks the first PCIe slot on P67 Deluxe, but so does my Silver Arrow. My Ripjaws X should fit, as the last RAM slot is not quite under the push fan. I guess the heat pipe caps will compress the foam on the inside of the side panel, but won't make it bulge. Archon's heat pipes are better oriented for the 90 degree rotated motherboard orientation in FT02 than the Silver Arrow's ones, in which half the heat pipes are fighting against gravity. The fans should be quieter too, since on the Silver Arrow I have to use both fans in pull/pull, so the fan blades are spinning right next to the heat sink fins, and on the Archon there would be at most one pull fan. Very tempting to at least try this out.

Glad we both went for very similar configurations. I posted a couple of pictures of mine earlier (http://hardforum.com/showpost.php?p=1036778289&postcount=2173), would love to see a full side view of yours. Have you tried using pull or push/pull on your Archon? Are you happy with your Shaman? Is the fan on it plugged into the GTX 570 fan header with an adapter or are you using the P67 Deluxe's second PWM header? Are you using a fan unlocker BIOS (30-100% fan speed) with your GTX 570 if the fan is plugged into the video card?

Are you happy with the overall noise profile of your build? I think the 180mm Air Penetrators are by far the biggest source of noise at idle for me, and I obviously only use them at the low setting. I have been thinking about picking up a decent fan controller for them, but the Lamptron FC Touch is OOS everywhere and I hate the ones that have a bunch of knobs. Redoing all the fan cabling also seems like a total nightmare. I replaced the 120mm exhaust fan with an Akasa Apache PWM one and plugged it into the 3-way PWM splitter that drives the Silver Arrow fans. My HDD is soft-mounted on rubber rings. Also, I got some Silverstone soundproofing foam, will apply it to all the bare metal surfaces when I replace the mobo for the B3 stepping version.

Guess it's pretty much impossible to SLI two cards with dual Shamans in FT02: either the PCIe x16 slots are not 4 slots apart or the lower Shaman would conflict with optical drives or HDD cage. Also, that wouldn't leave us any room for our awesome sound cards, since the top PCIe x1 slot is blocked by the CPU cooler. At least I'm happy that the VRM G2 doesn't conflict with anything, makes my GTX 580 look truly alien and keeps the VRMs pretty cool even without a dedicated fan.

BTW, shouldn't you be using the blue RAM slots if you only have two DIMMs?

Also, has anybody in this thread been able to find good magnetic filters that could be used on the outside of the Air Penetrators' intakes? Would make cleaning the filters so much easier.

no problem man. Yeah our builds are realllly similar. So far I haven't had too much time to set anything up cause school is killing me, but I do plan to make it look nice soon. Your setup looks great btw. I definitely checked it out when you posted pictures earlier and your posts earlier helped me out with the whole archon vs silver arrow thing.

You're right about the 180 mm fans. they are BY FAR the loudest thing in the case. My computer was much quieter sitting open on my desk before I put it into the ft02. However, the amount of airflow in the FT02 is kinda overkill so I have been looking into doing some fan controllers. For the short term, I'm going to split some one of the fan headers and try to see if I can get them quieter using the QFan. I'm waiting for the splitter to arrive in the mail. If I can't get it quiet enough using the qfan I'll definitely move to some kind of fan controller because i like my build to be super silent. Agreed about the nobs fan controllers with nobs. I don't like things sticking out.

About adding another fan to the archon. I'll be interested to see if that helps your clocks. My temps really never get very high before instability starts to set in--at least not like the first core i7 and core 2. I almost didn't even buy the archon because of all the reviews saying that cooling really didn't help overclocks that much.

Right now the shaman fan is running off the other PWM. My temps were damn amazing on the gtx570 with the shaman running furmark so I really am not afraid at all that the QFan may lower my vga fan speed down for the time being. I had looked into plugging that into the pwm on the video card, but I couldn't find an adapter and haven't had time to research if there's any issues just soldering the wires into the plug for the OEM fan. Do you know anything about that?

The archon totally blocks the first pci-e slot, and the gtx570 + shaman basically block everything else lol. That cooler is ridiculously large.

About the RAM, I moved it there for the pic because i figured that's what you were looking for. I left it there because I didn't realize it made any difference. I guess I'll move it back. Seems like a n00b mistake ^^.

Glad I could be of some help and thank you very much for moving your RAM sticks to take a picture for me. I found it really hard to find information on specific coolers fitting into specific cases and onto various motherboards, which makes buying them from places with restocking fees like frozencpu.com and svc.com a bit of a crapshoot. I've actually had to eat shipping charges both ways on a Thermalright Spitfire because I thought I could fit it in the FT02. Much happier with a Shaman though, so maybe it's a good thing Spitfire didn't fit.

What are your temps like? I haven't worked on OC'ing yet, so at stock speeds and Air Penetrators set on low, i2600K is 31-33C at idle, 50-51C running Prime 95 (of course one of the cores is always 3-5C higher), GTX 580 is pretty much the same, low 31-32C idle, 50-51C running Furmark. My Samsung Spinpoint F3 1Tb HDD stays at 28-30C all the time. I guess FT02 is indeed a bit of an overkill for cooling, running Prime95+Furmark+HD Tune at the same time doesn't increase the temps.

I'm bummed the GTX 500 series cards can only measure GPU temps, so the only way to figure out Vreg temps is with an infra-red thermometer or a thermo-couple. I've seen a review on xbitlabs.com saying that replacing the thermal pads on Thermalright VRM coolers with good thermal paste can drop Vreg temps by 30C, but I don't want to re-seat both the Shaman and the VRM G2 if my Vreg temps are pretty low to start with, as they reportedly are for both GTX 570s and 580s.

What kind of splitter are you going to use for the 180mm Air Penetrators? For the Shaman fan I found a VGA mini-PWM to regular PWM adapter on Ebay (http://cgi.ebay.com/150522300159), took a month to get it from Hong Kong. The regular PWM plug is a bit flimsy, so I used a wire tie to make sure the fan plug doesn't slip out of it. I think I was actually happier driving the Shaman fan from the mobo's second PWM header, didn't have to run MSI Afterburner to control it. Is your Shaman fan's speed limited to a narrower range than the Archon fan's by the mobo? I found that the Silver Arrow fans on the CPU PWM header went from 650 rpm at idle to 1200 rpm at full load, while the Shaman fan only had a range of 800-1050rpm when controlled by the second PWM header. Maybe I need to play with the BIOS fan profiles, since I was just using the default ones.

Are you getting your P67 Deluxe replaced through Asus or through Newegg or whichever retailer you bought it from? I was hoping I could wait this out until May, return the mobo to Amazon and get a Z68 instead, but that might be pushing it if B3 stepping mobos are already available in early March.

Do post some more pictures of your build, would love to see how you shoe-horned your sound card into the bottom PCIe x4 slot without bumping into SATA cables going to optical drives. Are you using the 2.5" bracket on the side of the 5.25" drive bays for your SSD? I pre-wired it for my soon- or not-so-soon to be bought OCZ Vertex 3 / Micron C400 or equivalent, but I'm not sure if it's the optimal position for it in terms of airflow. Then again, I guess SSDs don't get too hot, right?

Do you find that your GTX 570 is enough to drive your 30" Dell at 2560x1500? I still have a 9 year old prosumer-grade 22" CRT (NEC MultiSync FE2111SB-BK, use it at 1600x1200, 85Hz), which is showing some signs of aging, so I'm thinking about jumping on a Dell U3011 "deal" for $1125. On the other hand, I'm afraid that to use it at the native resolution with high video settings I'd need a GTX 580 SLI setup, which is impractical with big quiet aftermarket coolers like the Shaman or Arctic Cooling Accelero Xtreme Plus. Even if two of those were to fit into FT02 on a mobo with 4 slot spacing between PCIe x16 slots, it would still be impossible to fit a sound card in there. A dual-GPU card is also out of the question, no quiet aftermarket coolers exist for those. Water cooling is a bit too exotic for me. So I'm wondering if a 30" LCD is too much for my single GTX 580.

Sorry about the brain dump, slow day at work.
