Page 25 eh, well I still have not received a manual. Was it in that accessory box? Like the one I didn't get? LOL, talked to Silverstone today, they said they would mail the box out to me three day mail. Ugh, that's three more days I have to wait to build. Not counting the weekend.

Decided to fill my FT02-WRI with an XFX 5850 (external exhaust model with DisplayPort, which I need to free the U2311H's only DVI port for my PS3). If AMD/ATI's Southern Islands were not almost upon us, I would have sprung for the high end Asus Matrix 5870, but I'd rather save my pennies for the 6870. And the lower price of the 5850 gives me room in my current budget to opt for an SSD now. In the end, Nvidia just does not have the performance per watt or support for DisplayPorts, and while the SLI configuration has killer performance, I decided to rock one big single card anyway with the 6870.

Edit: Now I have my SSD choice, The Corsair F120, all I need now are mah screws and SSD Bracket, sure would be nice to have that missing FT02-WRI hardware accessories box...

What model did you get? M12-P, M12-S3HS??? Either way, when you get it, can you let me know if putting a fan on top of the H70 rad, allows for a Multiframe to fit under the H70 with one of the corners (vibration absorber) removed. If that clears the NB heat sink, I might pick up two of these.

Installed the h70. It ends up fitting with one of the corners removed.

Hey guys,

So in preparation of installing a 120mm radiator in the exhaust spot on my FT02 I modded the top cover so I could put a 120mm fan of 25mm thickness on top of the chasis. It was a really simple mod that involved just grinding some plastic down. If you have a dremel it shouldn't take you more than 10 minutes with the measurements I'm showing below.

I actually received a HW Labs Black Ice GTX 120mm radiator yesterday but unfortunately it was too wide to go in my case. Such a shame since it's a fantastic looking radiator. The only 120mm radiators I found that could fit in the spot up top easily were the XSPC RS120 and the Swiftech MCR120QP. I ordered the swiftech earlier today and will post up on it when I install it.

Now that i've installed everything in the red FT02, gotta say the red looks better than black.

Received mah screws! Working on installing everything now. I dislike those hard drive caddies. They need a redesign. I even tried to see if my Cooler Master ones would somehow fit, but nope. Silverstone just needs to redesign the plastic part to fit more snug.

Hi all.

Is it realy true that LGA 1156 gives problems in FT02 !

The only problem LGA 1156 gives you is the lingering feeling you should have bought LGA 1366, but that's with every case, not just the FT02 :p

Just Kidding, but why would any socket not work?

Hi Klaus, thank you for your interest in SilverStone. Many LGA1156 based motherboards have CPU socket located close to the middle of the motherboard so you will probably need to install the CPU cooler backplate with motherboard out of the case. It is an inconvenience, but I don't think it's a problem unless you frequently change your CPU coolers.

Hi Tony.

When you say many LGA1156 motherbords, can you tell me what LGA1156 Asus Intel P55 that will fit in FT02 ! Will 1156 fit in the RV03 !

The motherboards will fit in the RV02 just fine, it's just the CPU socket area won't align with the hole in the motherboard tray so if your CPU cooler uses a backplate you'll have to unscrew and remove the mobo in order to install it.

I have socket 1366, but the r3e mobo does not fit the ft02 CPU hole anyway. It is a very hit or miss feature I stopped caring about, as I will just keep the h70 there till it breaks.

I'd like to know this as well.

I don't wanna know... Will probably dump my FT02 + ATX hardware and go back to mATX when this hits stores.

:(:(:( ATX, I guess it was nice knowing you? A trash can is just too appealing.

I do not see myself selling off my gear to use it, but I have to agree that the "trash can" is quite appealing and will make a great conversation piece.

Really the only change I'd like to see is the removal of the white glossy plastic and the tacky clear optical drive slot.. besides that, looks pretty damn good to me.

To be fair, you'd only be doing a case and mobo swap for the switch from ATX to mATX and vice versa.

Hopefully they revise the fans, cuz' the one that blocks a 2nd video card is kinda stupid, along with the video card exhaust that has no direct vent. Those and that ugly "lip" of the optical drive.

Anyways, should probably drop the FT03 conversation and leave it back to FT02.

I should have my ft02 wri build done soon, will post pics. Had to go with the ax850 psu over the ax1200, I found the ax1200 had a hum or buzz audible sound to it, and the fan is much nicer on the ax850, being a san ace semi fanless design. I had a Seasonic X750 that I donated to my dads pc, which was much nicer, save for that stupid raised fan grill. So I'm going with a "Corsair" X Series Seasonic, but the rebadged Corsair edition has all black wires. Nice.

Question for anyone running 460 SLI:

I am planning to get the FT02 and would like to go with 2x 460 for SLI. I saw that it is recommended you get cards that exhaust out the back, but I keep hearing complaints that the EVGA cards have very noisy fans compared to the reference design. Would getting vented pci slot covers and using one of the other cards that doesn't vent out the back still work ok?

I was going to get the Asus Rampage III Formula that provides extra space between the cards and 2x GIGABYTE GV-N460OC which have two fans each on the card.

Thanks.

The FT02 already comes with vented pci slot covers. As for the non venting cards, they'll be fine. To my knowledge that complaint is only told by people that don't even own an rv/ft02.

JUST finished adding another 120mm radiator to my loop. Man, who would've ever thought you could make an FT02 look so cramped! Maybe I'll add an MCW80 to my graphics card in the future...

wow. while amazing you got everything to look as neat as it does, I'd hate having to maintain or do any changes your set-up. Even changing your GPU out will be a way bigger pain than it normally is with the tubing in the way.

I think I need to buy some Disc Drive/HD power extension cables... I can barely reach any drives with the standard AX850 cables.

Also, I believe I can vastly improve the HD caddies by adding some velcro to the inside of the arm, so it won't open at the slightest touch, which would keep it seated correctly instead of sliding out at a whim. If the arm does not open, that tab keeps it in place like.

I plan to try water cooling next build in a TJ11, but that's pretty neat in the above pics. I don't like the green color choice (I have the FT02-WRI, so it would be Christmas for me) or the extra fat looking tubing, I guess fat is good for cooling? For now I have the H70 and position wise was hard... I can't give up my only exhaust, and I don't want to put the pump above the radiator, like if I have the radiator on the bottom for fresh air, so I too chose to not reverse the exhaust as directed, and hope that the extra airflow of the Penitraitor fans in a short air path out will still work effectively, cus really those directions don't take into account the FT02's uniqueness. Plus between the Silverstone Penitraitors and dual1850rpm Gentle Typhoons on the H70, it should still cool very well even for overclocking... I'm guessing...

I could see a mod to redesign the psu area for this rad, and put the psu where the HD cage is, cut a hole for exhaust on the side door, and put the drives elsewhere, but It's hardly worth the effort for me. But this would add some exhaust power, which the FT02 could benifit from. And I think wiring would reach better to boot. Basically a RV03 in aluminum.

Oh and one other minor issue is that the fan filters are so tight, which is good, and the design of the filters makes it easy to get caught, which is bad, that one of my filters just does not slide in and out without bending it... dam near gets stuck every time. I had to swap those filters around as some would get caught more than others in certain locations. I noted that the TJ11 Prototype uses a more solid looking updated filter design. Thank god.

That would work, but you'd lose three 5.25" bays. I couldn't do that in my machine.

If you want your hard drive caddies to stick get a strip of velcro and wrap it through the airflow holes on the top of the hard drive cage. This will create a shim and will inrease the friction holding the drive sleds in. It's cheap and easy to do.

I'm looking forward to the TJ11 too.

Installed the h70. It ends up fitting with one of the corners removed.

Can you take a photo of it?? I would love to see how it looks.

FaRKle0079 thanks for the photos + instructions. I'm not sure if I'm going to do your method or buy the multiframes yet.

NP! I actually just realized the other day that if you have larger framed fans such as the San Ace 9S1212H401 I put up there the case requires some more modding. You need to cut out part of the lip on the side panel and dremel down the top cover frame a bit more. The Scythe GTs are a safe and great option though, You will want to put an anti-vibration mat underneath the fan though so the side panel can push that in a bit and not hit the frame of the fan.

Alternatively you could just use one 38mm thick fan in pull and it would achieve almost the same results as the two 25mm fans in push-pull. I decided to go this route. With my San Ace 9G1212H101 in pull above my swiftech MCR-120QP they sit just above where the window is on the FT02 so it's VERY clean looking.
