Don't see any reason why you should have any issues at all:

Thanks for the clarification. I had read a couple of complaints earlier about some issues with optical drives and multi-gpus conflicting.

With mounting and H50 could you just place the whole radiator assembly on a 180 intake fan in a push/pull configuration?

couple of questions for you guys on this case. I beleive I am ready to pull the trigger on this one for my new build but am hung up ona few choices. My main goals are powerful gaming system with the most minimal noise possible. I am not a freak on being totally quiet, but want to make the system as silent as is reasonable.
To that end I have two main places I am unsure of. First is there a noticable noise difference if I buy the case without the door vs the door model? In otherwords does the solid panel with the insulation on it help appreciably as opposed to getting the model with the plexiglass door?
Second, I am going to buy a 480 card to put in here. I want to get the Zotac AMP since it is rated as quiter, and cooler than the stock version of the card. BUT Silverstone states that the best card to use in this case is one that vents out so do you gusy think that this is an unwise choice? I realize the way the case is pushing air and understand the logic behind the recommendation, but wondering if the Zotac would really have "issues" functioning properly, or would hamper the case cooling. Thoughts?

Yes you can and while I've done it, My temps didn't change at all.

The window model still has noise dampening foam, but I can't speak for volume differences. I started with non window and traded panels with someone, but I never really thought about noise differences then. Sorry :p

I'm sure the Zotac will be fine, but it will raise your case temps a bit. How much? I have no idea.

You could always grab the FT02 Red LE which has the new AP181's, in my config this has dropped case temps anywhere from 7-10 degrees.

Does someone have any experience with fermi based gtx 465/470/480 cards in raven2/FT2 case ? How much cooler do they run when compared to normal setup?

In case anyone's wondering:

I hooked up one of the AP181 fans in my case to my fan controller to see how high I could turn up the rpms on it before it became audible. I closed the window and door in my room to try and get the quietest ambient noise. I could just faintly hear the AP181 at 950rpm with it installed in my case. Between 950-1050rpm the noise is ever so slight that you really need to be focusing on it in order to notice it. Beyond 1050rpm the AP181's noise is noticable for me and not difficult to pick up.

Still hunting for a BD ROM in silver, using a dated DVD drive might as well upgrade and not worry about stealth mod...probably should have gotten the case in black...

I know the feeling, I did a stealth mod tho and it was pretty easy. Anyone w/ the patience to cut the side aluminum sides will have a perfect stealth mod... I of course was lazy and stupid and just bent them off... Only things I used were glue and double-sided tape.

Here is a black version http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/searchtools/item-Details.asp?EdpNo=4435054&sku=T925-1301&srkey=Thermaltake%20iBox although it looks shinny and might not match well out the box. Neat item though for someone whom might need it and could get over the aesthetics. Personally I don't care for the design of the face plate, but to each his own.. the beauty of modding.

A handy tray accessory for the silver case, probably already mentioned on [H].

Will an ASUS Rampage III Extreme fit in this case without any issues?
It is larger than standard ATX.

Confirmed: Dimensions of ASUS Rampage III Extreme according to Newegg, 12" x 10.6" which is just under the 12" x 11" capacity of the FT02 according to my manual = good 2 go :D

I am a bit surprised no one noticed the Bit-tech review posted last Friday on the FT02 limited edition.

http://www.bit-tech.net/hardware/cases/2010/08/12/silverstone-ft02r-w-review/2

This is the first test of FT02+AP181 combination against arguably the best known air cooling cases on the market. Consider that FT02 was the only case in the group to not have any vents or fans on the side panel (helps contain noise inside the case), it is likely one of the quietest there too.

Hi Tony,

Will the RV-02E be available in US market? AFAIK, it is already available in China mainland.

Hey Tony,

Would Silverstone consider modifying the stock radiator mounts that come with the FT02? As they stand, they place the radiator and fans on the radiator too close to the motherboard prohibiting you from using high RAM heatspreaders. It also interfered with the ATX 24pin connnector on my motherboard. I fixed this by drilling more holes in the included mounts which placed the radiator closer to the side panel away from the motherboard.

Tony.... you missedmy question earlier.. I am ready to buy the red case.. BUT I need a new GPU as well... am I going to be ok with the Zotac AMP! or do I really need to stick with the EVGA version.... I am set on a 480....

Mine is on order :). Should be here tomorrow.

I was at quakecon and my P180B was on the back of a friends hand cart. I was leaving a day early, so it was borrowed. I had made it pretty much out to my car to load up, but maybe 20 yards out one of the wheels (filled with air -- not plastic) went flat. My pc rolled off the cart and I guess just the sheer weight of the case smashing down on its self pretty much hosed it over. It wasn't that far up, less than a ft off the ground. It rolled square, it hit along the back bottom edge and then landed on its back and scooted a bit. Amazingly most of the damage is in the front. Lots of broken plastic, like the front door.. just jarred it hard enough to do some "breakage". It must have hit pretty hard on one side compared to the other as its warped enough one of the side panels won't lay flat. Sigh... I hope this case is a suitable replacement --- it sure looks like it.

I will probably post pics of the finished FT02 when its done. I decided that rather than turn it on without finding all the broken pieces.. it would be a bad idea. I knew I had to buy a new case, so I'll just slowly move everything. :(

Finished re-building my PC. Since I went Nvidia, I had to get a FT02 again to keep the GTX 480 cool.
Here is a mini work log of the build:

I may sleeve the PSU cables some time soon. The 180mm fan cables and switches are sleeved black from Silverstone. Good upgrade over the rainbow mess on the the original FT02.
Front panel cables are not sleeved.

Cooling Results:
I keep the AC pumping in my house so ambient temps are around 23C.
My CPU fans (Cooler Master Excalibur) are rated @ 2000rpm.

800D
CPU Idle/Load w/ H50: 42C/78C (1600rpm)
GPU Idle/Load w/ 5850CF OC: 43C @ 50% fan / 66C @ 65% fan (775/1100)
NB: 63C

FT02B-WRI
CPU Idle/Load w/ H50: 36C/72C (1600rpm)
GPU Idle/Load GTX 480: 39C @ 50% fan / 71c @ 65% fan
GPU Idle Load GTX 480 OC: 39C @ 50% fan / 89C @ 80% fan (850/1700/2050 @1.075v) Using Kombustor
During gaming the GTX 480 OC only gets up to 74C.
NB: 55C

You can see the 6c drop on the CPU idle temp and 7c drop on load temps.
Since I had different GPUs I couldn't do a direct comparison.
I think the GTX 480 is performing quite well in the FT02.
The OC guide I used to tweak the GTX 480 said I should be around 95C @ 100% fan during Kombustor.
Well I'm at 89C with 80% fan during Kombustor. This has to be because of the case.
This allows more OC room and less noise.

Thoughts on the FT02B-WRI.

It still has the short comings of the original and the red paint is super thin. You can see the small chips in the PSU close-up photo.
With that said, I would have to say this is the best version IMO. The fans really makes the extra cost worth it.
Newegg had 10% off case when I bought it so I only paid $233+10 shipping.

Yeah, that's a good mod, although it is still limited to a dual rad because of the graphics card. We'll definitely look into it.

I think you should be ok with that card even though it is not completely optimal to FT02's airflow direction.

If you need more pics of what I did and how I spaced things let me know and I'll be more than happy to show you.

@WE

Your new LE-red build looks nice, welcome back to the FT02 :) Other than the new AP fans I also agree with your following statement: "The 180mm fan cables and switches are sleeved black from Silverstone. Good upgrade over the rainbow mess on the the original FT02".

I need to sleeve my "rainbow mess" one of these days, it just looks like a disaster when I have to pull off the side panel  that is a nice little touch they added to the LE.

If you buy the AP181 separate from the case the cables aren't sleeved. I don't really find the non-sleeving of these cables a problem though considering they're hidden behind everything anyways. I've hidden all my cables behind the motherboard tray and none are visible in the gap on the bottom aside from where the ATX 24-pin, PCI-E, and SATA cables come through to attach to the mobo.

The non-sleeved cables are not a "problem" persay, just an eye sore when I am working on things that require the left panel off. I mean, I see this nice case sitting on my desk all day, then when I went to install my SSD last week I opened the panel and I'm like wow, that mess is in there..

All my cables are hidden as well, except the damn LED, power on, and reset leads. The plugs for these on my board are under my RAM an inch to the left of the 24 pin, and the leads that came pre-wired in the FT02 are not long enough for me to run them behind the mobo :(

Coming back from the 800D were every cable was black, seeing the multi-colored front panel cables again wasn't great.
Maybe the TJ11 could come with all black cables like the 800D.

The GTX 480 OC (850/1700/2050 @ 80% fan) during gaming is only 74C. Amazing.

WorldExclusive, gorgeous build you have there! Nice number you have there with #1018 as the entire limited edition run only goes up to #1200.

I think there is a good chance that we will switch to sleeved cables on all future AP181 fans as a lot of people seems to like it.

I think we were a bit conservative earlier with our AP181 performance quotes, looks like nearly everyone is getting noticeably better temperature with them running on low when compared to the original 180mm fans on high.

Thanks Tony.

I can feel air at the top of the case with the AP181 fans. When I had the original FT02, I didn't feel any air reaching the top of the case. The AP181 pushes all the hot air completely out of the case.
Sleeving the cables saves us time, money and it helps our cable management look great. Front panel cables should also be sleeved.
I also have the Silverstone ST1000-P power supply. Sleeving the cables on the power supply will also do wonders.
Maybe a separate sleeved set can be purchased in the future for the Strider series i.e. Corsair AX series.

Many thx to everyone on this board for all the advice and pictures.. I will post some when I get it built.

I did a little test today that some of us FT/RV02 owners might find useful.

So many of us have heard critics of the FT/RV02 saying, "It needs more exhaust!" Normally I reply that I've tested various fans in the exhaust spot on the case and it didnt make any significant difference. The last time I re-iterated this to someone however, he replied back saying, "The CPU area is fine, but the case needs an exhaust fan over the PCI slots to remove GPU heat faster." Even though I highly doubted his claim, I was very intrigued.

Today I decided to test this by hooking up the stock 1100rpm golf fan and placing it directly over the PCI slots on top of the top cover. I monitored my GPU and CPU idle temps for 10min to see if anything changed and the numbers stayed the same. Next, I fired up furmark and set it to stability/xtreme burning mode at 1920x1080 to stress my GPU. I left my 5870 at stock speeds for this test. I ran furmark for 10min with the fan on the top cover, recorded my max temp and max fan speed, and then let the GPU cool down to idle temperatures. After it had done this I removed the fan on top and ran furmark again for an additional 10min to see if there would be any differences.

At the conclusion of my testing my GPU reached a max temperature of 77C with a max fan speed of 45% with the golf fan on top, and 77C/45% without the fan on top. Placing an exhaust fan on top of the PCI slots made absolutely no difference. This just further confirms the FT/RV02's fantastic thermal management design. I would say my case is slightly hindered over most other FT/RV02 cases since I have four of the PCI slot covers filled (2 for GPU, 2 for CCFL switches), and the large open area next to the PCI slots is mostly covered by my reservoir mount (at most 25% of it is still open).

GJ Silverstone Team.

red ft02 ordered. god damn it. Next on my list is to sell my gtx 480 and downgrade to something else since I don't game. I want to sell my hx1000. Move on to the ax750 and get an h70.

So what i'll be having for sale in the next few days
Ft02 black
hx1000
venomous x
gtx 480

Good purchase Omerta. One GTX 480 OC is a beast on my 30". I'll wait until I go Nvidia Surround before I get the second.

Farkle009, great work! You been doing tests for a while and all of them are true. The AP181 fans makes the FT02 the best case on the market for air cooling. Even the HAF X can barely reach these numbers.

Move on to the ax750 and get an h70.

How come you'd rather go to the AX750 as opposed to the normal X750? From what I can tell the only difference between them is the Corsair has a longer warranty, but an inferior fan.

TY! I was really crossing my fingers that adding another exhaust there would actually make a decent (3C or more) drop in temps so I'd have another little modding project to get started on. Oh well lol.
