Hey guys, I'm stumped on this and I need a 2nd, 3rd & 4th or more opinion.
My friend's old rig is custom build with an nVidia GeForce 4 MX440; he used a 21" CRT on it. He purchased a new HP Media Center m7470n PC with an ATI RADEON XPRESS 200 and an ACER AL2416W 24" widescreen LCD.
His old PC with new monitor, which he purchased before the new PC, works best for him at 1280x960 resolution. When he tries to choose this on the new PC, the ATI card doesn't have this resolution. He does digital photography for a living and has specific needs, so this can be a major purchasing-decision for him.
To my long-winded question, does anyone know WHY this ATI card won't give him this specific resolution? This HP has a ATI chipset, so I can't use an nVidia card. I'd love to go buy him a nice, pretty 7800GTX, but I can't.
Any ideas or suggestions?? Again, I'd prefer not to trade in the new rig, but the option is NOT out of the question.
Thanks so much in advance,
