e8500 stock speeds
ati 4850
4 GB ram




I know my next upgrade I want a quad, and a dx11 gpu... but It would be better if I waited. I can play what I like to play just fine right now on my 20" monitor.. but the new intel cpus are so shiny!


Someone please reinforce that I ought to wait. Graphics is another area where I need to wait. when the 5850s first hit I remember the pricing being just above 200 dollars, that did not last long.

With the nvidia delays it looks like the gpu prices will be high for awhile longer....

must.. wait...
 
Unless your system no longer meet your needs and wnats when it comes to performance, don't bother upgrading.
 
I almost have the same setup in my main rig. I've also decided to wait on upgrading. When the 5850 came out I almost bought it with an i5 750 upgrade. Decided to wait though, the 8400/8500 chips are still solid peformers.
 
I'm still rocking the exact same setup, and I see no need to upgrade. I was raring to grab myself a 5770 when it was hyped as a 4890-replacement, but the real benchmarks cooled my enthusiasm.

Instead, I bought an SSD - and it's a wonderful thing!

I'm going to wait until this summer to think about a true upgrade.
 
Just do like I did. I got the upgrade itch like 2 years ago. My old PC which just got replaced 2 weeks ago, still ran everything "ok", so I really didn't NEED to upgrade. I would come to the Hard and read all of the hardware forums and then window shop at Newegg. I did this for the last 2 years and finally got the oppurtunity to upgrade and it was worth the wait.

So...in short just go window shopping at Newegg and make a zillion wish lists...this should help ease the upgrade itch, it did for me.

If you do want to upgrade something, get an SSD like luser mentioned... sooooo fast. Intel/Kingston 40GB or OCZ Vertex 30GB (or any other indilinx based SSD).
