I use a x800 XT on a 40" LCD HDTV. Supported resolutions are 720p and 1080i.

When I chose 1280x720 in Windows, the display is bigger than the TV so I lose of the display in all directions.

If I chose 1152x684 or something, the display doesn't fill up the whole TV, it's smaller. So I get black borders.

Is there some settings or something I've missed that causes this? It's the same with 1920x1080 as with 1280x720.

But I should not lose anything on 1280x720 right?

When i first hooked up my 42" 1080P westy and set the resolution on htpc to 1920X1080 i was missing quite a bit of screen space on all 4 corners. Turns out the default setting on the tv for aspect ratio was set to fill and I set it back to standard and got the 1-1 pixel mapping.

just to double check you are hooking it up to your HDTV through the component or the DVI hookup?
