Hi all, i've been ou pc building for some time now. I've tried to manage reading up last two months. But it's still hard to make 'the right decisions'. The help i need is for a coming new system (not in a month yet at least). This help is to get me on my track towards a high end system for end 2012 / half 2013.
1) What will you be doing with this PC? Gaming? Photoshop? Web browsing? etc
At the moment webdeveloping, but will be doing: audio editing, 3dMax/maya and Audio design (and maybe an occasional videogame, but i do not require highest setting. It will be something like C&C generals,..i dont like shooters like crysis
)
2) What's your budget? Are tax and shipping included?
My budget is between 5000-6000 euros ish ( so say 75000 dollars). Proven needed, i might rise (incl tax)
3) Which country do you live in? If the U.S, please tell us the state and city if possible.
Netherlands
4) What exact parts do you need for that budget? CPU, RAM, case, etc. The word "Everything" is not a valid answer. Please list out all the parts you'll need.
It's a fresh build.
- I'll be buying a Apple cinemascreen (also for representative design issues, i know it's not the very best screen for the price).
- Intel processor, either single i7 or dual xeons
- 32-64 mb Ram
- high end motherboard with enough bandwith
- corsair d550 case (if possible)
- enermax PSU ( im very happy with my current enermax, tho, open for suggestions)
- apple keyboard & magic trackpad and a normal ergonomic mouse
- SSD 120/256 GB and a few TB spindrives ( working on NAS mostly )
- And the fun part: dual precisions gpu/coprocessors (open for suggestions)
- A corsair H80/H100, depending on the procs
- Highpoint raid card card (raid 1)
5) If reusing any parts, what parts will you be reusing? Please be especially specific about the power supply. List make and model.
Currently I'm using OCZ Vertex 3 120 GB, will be my windows drive, or cache drive
6) Will you be Overclockin?
If possible at least a little bit. Preferable up to 4.xx (why not
)
7) What is the max resolution of your monitor? What size is it?
2560x1440, "27 inch
8) When do you plan on building/buying the PC?
End if 2012 to half 2013 ( I want to be absolute sure I'm buying not outdated parts,...this thing needs to be great for some years)
9) What features do you need in a motherboard? RAID? Firewire? Crossfire or SLI support?
USB 3.0? SATA 6Gb/s? eSATA? Onboard video (as a backup or main GPU)? UEFI? etc.
Sata 6, USB 3.0, Bluetooth pref, SLI perhaps, UEFI if possible, Raid pribably a highpoint card, gigabit lan, if possible a firewire 1394 (iirc, the old one)
10) Do you already have a legit and reusable/transferable OS key/license? If yes, what OS? Is it 32bit or 64bit?
Windows 7 Business edition 64 bit all the way
I'm very specific if that seems, but completely open for suggestions.
I also am very interested in the Xeon Phi processor or Tesla cards, but more the Phi ^.^ ( not out yet
)
The computer is for audio/graphic/design and dev, and as "sponsoring" for the moment, the pc will run to help calculate space programs
like a F@H computer.
(i do like a lil overkill sometimes, its to ease my mind for future use). Its the reason i had my p4 3 Ghz up to now (2004 :x )
Curious what you guys come up with. I rather have a good component than specifically cheap or expensive. The computer just needs to be good (and i like to build it myself
)
