If you're gonna ask us to build/list a PC for you or seek advice about a build, please answer all of the following questions:
1) What will you be doing with this PC? Gaming? Photoshop? Web browsing? etc
Gaming mostly. First person shooters (serious sam hd, battlefield bad company 2, battlefield 3, battlefield 2, counter strike, cod, etc..)
2) What's your budget? Are tax and shipping included?
$1000 and that price is pretty firm.
3) Where do you live?
Biloxi, MS
4) What exact parts do you need for that budget? CPU, RAM, case, etc. The word "Everything" is not a valid answer. Please list out all the parts you'll need.
CPU, Motherboard, RAM, GPU, PSU, Case, Harddrive(s),
5) If reusing any parts, what parts will you be reusing? Please be especially specific about the power supply. List make and model.
Probably wont be reusing any parts, but I do have:
Intel Q8200 @ 2.33Ghz
Nvidia 460 GTX
4GB DDR2
Two Raptor 15k RPM drives (old ones, the F3s are prolly faster now)
Corsair 620W or 520W PSU (couple years old now)
6) Will you be overclocking?
Open to it.
7) What size monitor do you have and/or plan to have?
Currently got a 25" 1920x1080
8) When do you plan on building/buying the PC?
Next week.
9) What features do you need in a motherboard? RAID? Firewire? Crossfire or SLI support? USB 3.0? SATA 6Gb/s? eSATA? Onboard video? etc.
What I would love to have is a tripple monitor setup, but I'm not sure the budget allows that. Obviously not including the price of the monitors.
10) Do you already have a legit and reusable/transferable OS key/license? If yes, what OS? Is it 32bit or 64bit?

Basically this is a friends computer and he really wants to upgrade to a new system, but he doesn't have much money to spend. I told him unless he plans to set aside ~$1500 and go with an 2500k build with a 6950 (or higher) video card I don't think it would really be worth it. So he has ~$1000 to spend, is it worth him getting a completely new rig? If not, what parts can he upgrade?
