Going to do a new build as soon as case gets here. My current X-FI card is not a pci-e card and I will need to replace it. Should I go with a Xonar DGX or is there a better choice? All I want it for is gaming, no other audio uses. Build is a 3570K, Gigabyte UD3H build. I should add that my gaming headset is a creative one with USB connection. Speaker system is a Swan 2.1.

dont you want again Creative? because he have model"s which works
with pcie slot"s.

Do you even need a soundcard? If your gaming headset connects via USB, then it is almost certainly using it's own internal "sound card" rather than anything having to do with the X-Fi. Connect your speakers via onboard sound.
 
Yes I do need a sound card as I only use the headset for voice. I mainly listen to games through my Swan speakers.

No I really don't want to use any Creative products again. I have always used them and just think it is time for a change. Budget, max $100 but I would like to stay under that for just gaming.

Go for the DGX, for $40 it will most likely meet your needs.
 
I've been using the normal ASUS drivers w/my STX, read thru the unified driver notes a few times but nothing stood out to make me wanna switch... Dunno.
