My pop has a HP Pavilion a1600n vomit box, consisting of:

-Athlon 64 x2 3800+.
-ASUS A8M2N-LA mobo.
-Nvidia 6150 LE onboard video.
-1 GB RAM (512 x 2).
-200 GB HD.
-DVD burner.
-Bestec 288 watt MAX PSU 12v rail=19amps.
also
-XP-home-sp3.
-23" HP S2331 TN-Panel LCD (1920x1080).
-USB connected el-cheapo HP color inkjet.

NO add-in PCI-E video card planned anytime soon/ever.

The DVD drive just died recently and I figure the PSU is next, so I'd like to replace it NOW.

COOLER MASTER Elite 460 RS-460-PSAR-J3 460W
This PSU is $30 (NO tax/shipping!) at Newegg.

Any negative comments/feelings regarding this PSU or Coolmaster PSUs in general?

The PSU you picked is awful.

I wouldn't replace the PSU just because the DVD drive went out. If its working fine, keep it as-is.

Yeah go with the Corsair 400CX instead over that crap Coolermaster PSU.

For clarification: there are decent Coolermaster PSUs out there like some of the Silent Pro series. Unfortunately, a good majority of Coolermaster PSUs tends to be over-rated as in they say it's a 460W PSU when it's a 350W in reality.
