Removing win7 from windows boot manager?

I had a copy of win7 RC1 running on a second partition alongside XP.
I just deleted the win7 partition and expanded the XP partition to fill the entire hard-drive.


Win7 however still shows up on the windows boot manager. How do I get rid of the boot manager screen completely?

When I searched online, most of the solutions were applicable to win7 users removing XP from the boot screen through the msconfig boot panel but XP's boot.ini looks slightly different.
 
Windows XP boot manager lists windowsXP as the only operating system on the boot loader.

I think I'm supposed to use BCDedit which is a completely new system introduced with Vista, except that I deleted the win7 partition and don't know how to access it from XP.
 
if you just want to get rid of the annoying os selection screen at boot up just go to control panel>system>click on the advanced tab> locate startup & recovery at the bottom> click on settings> remove the check mark from "time to display list of operating systems" and you're done.
 
Nope, the boot loader still shows up.
I think the vista boot loader and XP boot loader are completely separate.
