I installed a Thermaltake Big Typhoon on my AB9 Pro in anticipation of getting my Conroe fired up. Decided I don't want to use the AB9 Pro, so what's the best way to get the sticky backplate off? I tried using force...didn't work :). Same old heatup using a hair dryer? Or am I missing something easier than that?

I used a hairdryer, but the metal backplate will separate from the tape before the tape comes off the mobo. I picked off the majority of the residue, but I decided I'd rather have a little gunk on the back rather than ruin the mobo. Do you want to return the AB9?

Not really, I'm going to sell it to a friend, but I kind of want to keep the BT. I might just leave it on and sell him both and then buy another HSF. Only problem with the backplate is it doesn't seem to be all that reusable on other motherboards :(. Maybe I'll go with a Scythe Mine or a Arctic Cooler 7 Pro since it uses stock clips.

I dunno how Intel boards are set up, when I installed my BT on my A8R32-MVP, I just used the standard backplate and it works like a charm, no sticky foam tape required.

Intel boards are bare behind the CPU socket. Needed a backplate or else I'd mangle the board :(.
