I have 2X 512 and 2X 256 ram sticks on my nforce 4 board. They are all not the greatest ram but the 256 came out of an OEM machine and the 2X 512 were bought together (kingston) do you guys think removing the 2x 256 might improve my oc? thanks

It probably would, but it depends on a lot of things... How hard you're actually pushing that OC (bus), the timings you're running on all those sticks, how decent the sticks from the OEM rig are, how well engineered your mobo is (a lot buckle w/4 dimms full, even at stock timings), etc etc.

I've been out of the loop for a while so anyone else feel free to correct me... Best way to test this is to take those sticks out yourself though! Run a few stress tests (Prime + other apps, Memtest, etc) beforehand and see how far you can get without crashes, same afterwards, and you'll have your answer.

OC'ing by the seat of your pants isn't really very effective, in the end you'll save yourself a lot of hassle if you're testing everything thoroughly before moving on. Given the rest of your components, it's doubtful you'll lose much from the extra 500 MB, and whatever gains you experience in a few memory hogging apps may be overshadowed by the extra OC headroom without those sticks.
