Relocating Installations

A quick question for someone with knowledge of the windows registry:

Is it possible to relocate installation folders from one location to another on the same drive without causing registry issues in windows 7 x64? I currently have all of my games installed on my HDD separate from the C drive directories for program files. To be honest I want to move the folders for each program to a new parent folder just to reorganize the drive, but I'm concerned after hearing horror stories about moving installations from one drive to another and wrecking the registry.

I believe you cant do that, the registry entries are going to point to the original location, which wouldnt be valid any longer

I would not recommend it for applicaitons unless you plan on re-installing them so the registry knows where to look for them. Only other option is to manually edit each key to tell it the new location :p probably easier to re-install lol.

It's dead easy. The trick is to put a link in the old place to the new place using MKLINK.
