Regular E6 cards?

Is there any regular E6 type cards like a 5870 1GB with 6 display ports?
Or like a 5970 2gb with 6 display ports?

I'm building an Eyefinity system with 3 display port monitors, and feel it would be easyer if I didn't have to buy the adapter.

Also on a side note, if you put a 5870 E6 card as the master and 5970 as the slave, you still don't get the extra memory frame buffer do you?

Would setting the cards up like this make any difference during Eyefinity? I heard there was some issues with Eyefinity and Tri-fire yet.

I'm looking to build it about 3 months from now. Depending more on how far the refresh is away from doing then.

No. The 5870 E6 has the extra RAM because it's going to need it at the higher resolutions it runs.

In a multiple-GPU situation, whether it's two cards in Crossfire or a dual-GPU card like the 5970, the contents of RAM for each GPU must be identical. Two 1GB cards in Crossfire have 1GB total available. A 2GB 5970 has 1GB per GPU, and has 1GB total available. This is true for both ATi Crossfire and Nvidia SLI.

If you Crossfire a 2GB 5870 E6 with a 2GB 5970, all GPUs, including the 5870, will have only 1GB available for use. Yes, I know that 2+2=1 is confusing but that's how it works. If you want to have 2GB per GPU in such a setup, you would need to get a 4GB 5970.

I don't have answers for the rest of the post.

So would you still be able to run a E6 card with a regular 5970? Even though you wouldn't get the extra Ram, or frame buffer?

Or does it make it incompatable because of the ram amounts?

You would still be able to run it. It would merely not use 1GB of the RAM on the E6. Which would be sad, but it will work.

Yeah, but it's alot easyer than spending another 100 on DVI to display port active adapter, and fiddling with it to get to work.
Like you can find a 5870 1gb for 380, but you probably make things easyer just spending the 100 dollors more for a E6 version for at least one of them instead of buying the adapter. So much less hassle, and hard ware worries.
