Redesigned Catalysts Coming Soon--

Looks sweet! Hopefully they'll manage to squeeze a couple more FPS out of our games.

a) Don't steal bandwidth.
b) I don't like it. The current Catalysts are fine. I think that's a step away from nVidia, not a step in the right direction.

I don't like it, I think it's fine the way it is now. The new one looks too much like nvidias.

I think its very nice, I dont care a bit about it bieng "too much like nVidia's" it looks as though you get a 3D preview of the setting you change and how it affects theoretical gameplay. I for one am happy with the change. :)

Besides the 'Graphics Settings' tab reminding me of Nvidias layout, I like the new look. That is, if in fact this story is legit. The 3D window showing the actual application of AA/AF is sweet.

i would like the ability to set different settings for games or multiple proflies like they suggest.

I think it looks really nice. Who gives a shit if it "looks like NVidia's" a bit. Jeeze. The "preview" window is cool tho, if that's what it is. Hopefully it offers more stuff to play with and adjust, and it's not just a pretty face.

I think the reason it doesn't make it so easy to change them seperately is that, for most of us, there's no reason not to set one to the same basic settings as the other.

Anyway, yeah, the 3d preview is nice. I bet it won't take nVidia long to make their own equivalent of this though. It just makes sense really. Anyway, you've noticed how long they've been taking with 4.8 and they already had a beta 4.9 without having yet released 4.8 for so long. I suspect that they plan to skip an official 4.9 and go straight to a 5.0 with all the new features. Just a guess though really.

Tell you what then. You give me that, and I'll give you $165, which should pretty much cover the costs of a 9500. d-: Heck, I'll borrow a bit more even. Ah, I'll even throw in my, er, slightly less than fully working 9600 Pro for free! Good deal, no?

Lol, I'm sorry, I couldn't help it. ^_^

Nope, after 4.9 will be 4.10, then 4.11, then finally 5.0!

Also, good to hear switch between D3D and OpenGL will be in there. :D

No, the .xx number is the month of the year not the revision number.

i.e 4.7 = July, 4.8 = August, 4.9 = September..

Actually, the revision number IS the month of the year, that's how ATI is doing these monthly updates. I didn't want to spell it out with my initial post so as to not insult the people that already knew this, but wanted to let the people that didn't know what was coming next. :D

The drivers will be what they are whether anyone likes it or not.

The only possible bad thing will be if/when they dont work and with what game/program.

I personally hope they work, because I am waiting until 5.0 to upgrade.

omg, The Titan has blessed us all with a post in this thread :p :D

anyway, i think they look to be a tad more friendly to find those "hard to find" settings in the current driver sets. cant wait to play around with it...
