I was told at one point that to use a flat panel monitor I needed a AGP 4x slot compatible.
It was recommended that I buy a 64mb NVIDIA GeForce 3 TI 500 and it has a DVI interface
to go with a variety of flat panel monitors that also have the dvi interface.. "

So, which videocard would you guys reccomend to buy for someone who 1) doesn't want to spend alot of money. 2) Wants to use a flat-panal monitor 3) Doesn't play games alot or almost at all. And the games the person plays are not demanding. 4) Watches DVDs on teh compuer.
So which videocard do you reccomend?

Are you putting the card on the computer in the way too detailed description or the one in your signature? If you don't care about games get a 9200se or something cheap from ATI with DVI output. ATI's have good 2d image quality.

I am putting the card into the "way too detailed" description computer, not my own. Would you reccomend any of the GeForce TI (something, something) cards? Are they cheaper than the 9200 SE?

The Geforce 3 Ti's were great cards back in the day. I don't even know where you could find one. I know that the ATI's have great 2d because I owned one. The older Geforces did as well. Whatever has DVI is what you need for the flat screen.

What about the GeForce MX 4000 ? It has DVI and costs about $40. What do you think of it?

128mb ram doesn't make better 2d video. . .

Its cheap, has excellent 2d image quality and you could play a game on it if you wanted to and didnt care about high resolution 3d. Did you even read the reviews for the product? IF you had you'd notice the kudos it got for its image quality, which is what the question pertained to.
