Recommendation for a Notebook Backpack

I'm looking for a new backback to carry my laptop in. I've been using a Dell Messenger bag to carry my laptop for the last two years but the single strap is starting to hurt my neck a little. I also can't carry that many books or other gear with me to class with that Dell bag. So now I'm looking for a backpack.

The only criteria I have is that my 15.4" laptop can fit snugly inside the backpack and be around $50. Any recommendations?

I personally have a sleeve that I put my notebook in then I just put it in any old backpack. My Dakine backpack generally.

I don't like laptop backpacks, my last one sucked... lots of them are very poorly done and don't help much of anything.

I'd like to see some of the reccomendations though.

I just got this bag. Really loving it so far. Seems to be built for the long haul, and holds more stuff than my poor back could possibly hope to support. Lots of padding on the straps and even on the lumbar area. Should be good unless you're over 15.4" widescreen. Then it starts getting hard to find a good ones.

If you look around, you can find them for about that price range, but I sweat by Ogio Metro and Metroid backpacks. Bounty Hunter if you need a 17" compatible (It's basically the Metro's big brother)

Yeah, I have a North Face backpack with a pretty nicely padded laptop compartment in the main compartment. It's actually really nice and really conveinent. If you want to just use any old backpack, I suggest you take a look at http://www.timbuk2.com/tb2/retail/catalog.htm. They have some pretty nice laptop covers and bags.

im looking for a backpack/carrypack for a 17" MBP

any ideas without breaking the bank?

I use them.

I purchased a "soft cell" laptop bag for my 15.4." Love it A LOT, carrying it to school/work/etc. I feel like I don't have to worry about things scratching it,etc.

My school gave us these backpacks for our IBM Thinkpads:

Targus 15.4" Groove Notebook Backpack
http://www.targus.com/us/cases_notebook_backpacks.asp?Member=2&PageNumber=3

It has a nice separated sleeve for your notebook with lots of extra room for books etc. I have since gotten rid of the Thinkpad for a Dell M1710.

I don't even know if my new Dell will fit into the backpack (I just got the notebook last night and haven't tried it in the bag yet). I'll tell you what, if it doesn't fit I'll send you a PM if you would like to have my bag for free (just cover shipping). It's a great notebook bag that has served me well for about a year.
