Recommend SATA Cables

Hi all,

Can anyone recommend a specific brand of serial cable? I am using the ones that came with my drives and they are loose. One of them is so bad that it came loose when I moved my PC, thus degrading the RAID 1, and now the darn thing is going to take the next 6+ hours rebuilding. Not a good thing.

Do they make any cables that are 'tighter' than the cheap stuff that ships with retail drives?

Monster cables. ;)

(Hopefully everyone knows this is a joke...I don't think their racket has spread to computer data cables, either.)

Older SATA cables have a very low force required to detach. It's easy to get cheap cables now that don't have this issue. I forget the name of the relevant specification, but they usually have visible metal clippy bits near the plugs. If you get them off Newegg, there are pictures.

I use these. Right angle on one side and straight on the other. They come in 6", 10", and 18". I like having really short cables. Cleans up the case nicely.

save yourself a few bucks and get them from monoprice: http://www.monoprice.com/products/subdepartment.asp?c_id=102&cp_id=10226

i use those in my system

These are great, I have 6 like it in my comp, very well made. I got mine from the egg tho.

I think you have your answer. We all recommended the same cable. Looks like (as usual) that monoprice is the cheapest place to go.
