ya know... it depends on your situation but a good start for info is going to be the sticky entitled upgrade guide.

The XFX 6800 AGP at NewEgg for $164 + $5 shipping.

There. The best performance for as close to you price range. Done.

yea 6800 or x800 if not then 6600 gt or wait for the new x800 gt which is a tad better then 6600gt

That should do it. Prices may even slip down a little more this week.

It looks like this card
XFX PVT40KNDD3 Geforce 6800GT 128MB 256-bit DDR AGP 4X/8X Video Card - Retail

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814150106

is a pretty good buy for $164.00 + $2.99 shipping

It being GT means all the pipes are unlocked, correct?

Keep in mind that they say the memory is only DDR @ 700MHz not GDDR3 @ 1000 MHz plus it only has 128MB not 256MB (or even 512MB like some 6800GTs)

the specs on that "6800GT" are way off...but I highly doubt you're going to get a $170 GT, I can pretty much guarantee it...although maybe you could order that card and yell at them when they don't give it to ya, might get somewhere.

It says it has the 6800GT chipset

The only thing that doesn't match is the 700MHz memory clock (because it isn't listed on the manufacturers page)

Also the model number is a little different the manufacturer says PV-T40K-ND
while newegg says PVT40KNDD3

Interesting note this card (PVT40KND on newegg)
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814150068
looks the same except for the chipset is 6800 not 6800GT (and shipping is more)

which looks like this card on the manufacturer's site (PV-T40K-NA)

I'm contemplating one of these cards too. Too bad its old DDR and not GDDR3.

Being what this card is, its it worth $164?

I'm also waiting out the 11th to see what happends with this announced pricedrop.

Another option might be the 6800LE for $140 and see if you can unlock extra pipes. Even if you can't get all 16, you're likely to get at least 4 I'd say. $30 less and you get inside the price your'e looking at.

If not, 6600GT is a good card in that range also.

I'm kind of sceptical of that leadtek 6800LE. What the heck is an LE anyway? And I bet chances are pretty slim trying to get extra pipes out of that card. I haven't heard of any success stories for that leadtek, but have heard few, even on the egg customer reviews of getting the pipes on the XFX cards but having to toss out stock cooling to rid the artifacts.
