Hello all,
After a catastrophic hard drive failure last year, I started from scratch with 2x Seagate 1.5TB 7200rpm SATA drives on a mirrored Raid 1. One of the drives just went bad as of a couple days ago, and Seagate already has a replacement drive on the way.
Unfortunately, I just noticed on the return shipping instructions that I should've contacted them if I was running a mirrored setup. I just called them, and they informed me that is because most Raid arrays usually require the exact same model number of drive to successfully rebuild the array. The Seagate rep stated that although the same model was allocated for my advance replacement order shipping today, there were none in stock and it could be substituted with a 2TB model.
I've never had to deal with rebuilding a raid array before. If I do get upgraded to the 2TB model, am I going to have problems?
Edit: onboard Intel ICH10R Raid controller
