Looking for a card for my dad's new system. He's needing a DVI out to drive his new 24" display and I'm guessing that he'd like a second DVI port to drive his old 20" as well, but that's just me.

So, the only real requirements is that it be PCI-E and have 1 (preferred 2) DVI ports.

Other than that... he'd like it as inexpensive as possible as the only use he's got for 3d acceleration is really limited to google earth. Of course, the more capable the card the better, as who knows, he might go nuts on me and get into a racing sim or something :p

So... is there going to be anything with 2 DVI ports (or maybe even 1 DVI and 1 VGA) in the $20-30 range? Or is it going to run at least $40-50 for that?

Also, for low-end like this, would I be better off online, or waiting for a fry's special?

Thanks!

i just make a low end system for someone and i put a 8400gs in there. it cheap but not too cheap.

if you want new low end you just get a 8400GS or HD2400

eg

if you want cheap cheap just goto newegg, hit PCIE-16 and sort by price, cheapest you get is

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814102721

granted tehse don't have dual DVI's but with 1 DVI and 1 VGA you still have the option of doing dual monitor setups (most LCD's still have VGA inputs)..

hm... the hd2400 could be a good choice in case he ever decides to get into HD vid.

All.. appeciate the feedback!

Or you could go for an ATi 3450 / 3470 or 3650 if you need a bit more power (the 3450 is usually passively cooled so is silent)

The 3450 is not much good at games but is very capable of HDDVD / BR playback on a HD TV should this ever be needed.
