Anyone getting a bug with the 'sniper' rifle in Red Dead Redemption? Supposedly it is available at any gunsmith after level 5 marksman but I am already doing the mexico missions with a level 7 marksman... I could just throw in a cheat code to play around with it after I beat it but it still is a little curious.

I believe I got the sniper rifle, or "Rolling Block Rifle," during one of De Santa's missions, didn't buy it from a gun shop.

The Carcano Rifle is a better sniper rifle, but only sold at the gunshop in Blackwater.
 
Yup, you get the first sniper rifle during De Santa's 2nd mission in Mexico. I think that like some of the hide-outs you have to trigger story elements before some things are made available.
 
You get the buffalo rifle after level 5 hunting missions at any gunsmith. maybe you got the two confused?
