Razer Mako's?

They are Razer so they suck.

Please do not waste your $$ and go get the JVC HAR-X900 instead.

Razer mako's aren't headphones, they are a 2.1 system that retails for $400, I was just wondering what people think of them.

Not trying to justify its expensive cost but what a horrible assumption. Have you even read all the glowing reviews this system received? Just because Razer is known for making input devices doesn't mean their venture to the audio world will be subpar.

As for the topic, personally I think you can do much better by finding a used Klipsch ProMedia 5.1 (usually 150-200) than spending $400 on a 2.1 system. Unless you absolutely listen to music all day and are destined to find the best 2.1's then I'd say either the Makos or this.

I would really appreciate it if I could get some more assistance on this topic, thanks guys!

ROFL

You just recommended two of the worst choices in audio. Razer audio? Total fucking joke. Klipsch pc speakers? Not even if they were free. Axiom is another example of piercing treble and no balance.

You go with Swan, M-Audio, Audioengine, Dayton, BIC for entry level pc audio. I have only written about 900 pages on this so far. What's another post?

Speaking as someone who has Makos, I've been very happy with them. Compared with M10s for example, and yes I have a set of those too, I prefer the Makos for gaming and movies although I would chose the Swans for music.
Are they overpriced? Absolutely. Do I care? Nope.

Have you even heard the Makos, spaceman? If not, and I don't believe for a second you have, then you're not really in a position to judge. Posting hundreds of pages of Razer-hate isn't going to change that.

Glowing reviews? From the same people that give their gaming headphones glowing reviews.

That is bullshit. Nothing made by razer sounds good. You just like the bass. Never presume anything about me or what I know. I don't get pissed off just b/c I think I am right. I Know that I am right.

It is called the old xbox Spherex. I have these for my tv speakers b/c my wife can't stand seeing speakers so I have to use something tiny. This is what razer's "scientists" ripped off and put some ooh ah packaging around. Tiny omnipolar satellites which are way too small to produce real sound. There is a HUGE hole in their frequency response. I have to crank up the sub to 150hz to cover this. I would bet the mako satellites don't even hit 200hz because they are even smaller than the spherex. Bullshit overpriced CRAP.

Die.

Me too. They make me feel warm inside.

He's the kind of person you would do the opposite of what he told you just to spite him... of course, only if it meant he'd respond indignantly, otherwise it'd be a waste even reading his replies.

MediaOne 5a? Really? I never heard them. How do they sound?

Off topic: I have the Xbox Spherex sub...got it from Parts Express for $32 shipped. Slapped in a 70w plate amp and I must say it sound pretty good. Also how do you like the Spherex sats? I was thinking about buying them for a cheap 5.1 setup.

They work for tv and movies ok. You will certainly be happy with them for what you pay. They do effects well and don't really care where in the room they are. In other words, an easy setup.

I have been doing research on this speaker. THX was the one that designed that speaker, razer just happen to market them.

Now before I get flamed for spending $400 on this speaker, allow me to explain myself.
Im looking for the best 2.1 speaker I can buy without having to go with mini monitor and other high end set up. My main reason is space.

I would like to know if this speaker is better than my Bose companion 5, or any other 2.1.

Keep your companion 5.

Yeah really. If it has to be that small then I can't help you. There are more exotic solutions but then it gets complicated and expensive. More of a hassle than I think you are willing to get into.

Headphones are a great option if you want it easy though.

Maybe get a bigger desk? lol

My friend just got a sweet deal for the Razer Mako's. I think he payed like $20 or $30 for them at some employment discount sale at an electronics store. For that price I can guarantee its a steal. As for me I have so far owned 3 Klipsch set ups.

My first one being the Promedia 5.1 Ultra, and as much as I love this system to death....I wouldn't recomend it. The amp in the sub died twice on 2 different subwoofers over the past 3 years, so I gave up and went to the Klipsch Promedia 2.1. These haven't died ever over the past 2 years and sound awesome. Plus I got them for $100 CND. Bass is smooth and thumpy if you need it to be, THX certified and volume and bass controls on the speakers.

My current set up is the Klipsch Cinema 6 speakers paired with a Klipsch RW10D sub and a H/K Receiver. So happy with this set up, but barely have any desk space.

I would reccomend you save $300 and buy the Klipsch 2.1's or the Swans if you listen to music mostly.

Cheers.

YES! BIC products are completely under-rated, and I have been saying this for years. Over the years, I've owned comparable Harman Kardons, Infinity, and Yamaha 5.1 sets. My BIC Venturi's are superior in performance and are reasonably priced. They're not the prettiest or smallest speakers, but stick with tried-and-true acoustics design; they're just plain and simply quality products. Bonus that their a well-established company and an American-made product.

But would you guys say this the better speaker compared to the Bose companion 5?

And at 'least half of those options would be cheaper too... Might not be as bass-heavy but even with an added sub he'd probably come in even at worst (price-wise). Basically the Razer set's just grossly overpriced regardless of how decent it is or isn't, even at $300 it'd be overpriced.

No... THX slapped a PC speaker certification on them which really doesn't mean much, and you don't want to get this crowd started on Bose. :p
