Random System Shutdowns

I built a brand new system last week. All was well, until this past Sunday. The system started randomly shutting down. When I push the power button it will attempt to start, then again shut down. This will happen a few times, then it will finally muster the strength to boot up. What could the problem be??

My setup is:

DFI Lan Party UT RDX200
AMD FX-60
(2) 1GB sticks of OCZ Platinum DDR500
Western Digital 150GB Raptor
Enermax Liberty
ATI Radeon 1900XTX

Try to boot with another psu if you have one.

Is this a clean install of windows?


Also, can you boot the UBCD? Try to test the ram with memtest

as much as I want ati chipsets to succeed I Would be willing to bet its the mobo.

The HSF is running. Voltage looks good and steady to the CPU and RAM. Clean install of Windows.

I will try the CD you mentioned and report my findings.

Yeah, my first thought is the mem too. Run "Memtest86+" on the UBCD (found in the mainboard tools section).

Thats the same problem I had.....


Try removing the side of your case and/or making sure things stay cool.

Yeah - that was the problem. I bought a very expensive case - the NZXT Lexa... you'd think they could get something as simple as a power switch to be reliable.

I disconnected the power switch cord, and I'm now using the integrated power button on my motherboard. It's been rock stable for the past few hours now...
