About 2 months ago the water pump in my PC died so I just got around to ordering a new one.
I ordered the same exact pump as I had - Swiftech MCP655-B. I also got some new tubing, as the tubes I had were foggy and such.
I spent all day today installing my new pump and doing some much needed wire management on my PC. I finally got it all done. I plug in all my stuff (monitors, keyboard, mouse, speakers) and my PC now just randomly shuts itself down. It will start itself back up after about 5 seconds. This never happened before.
When this initially began, I thought maybe it was my temperatures. That wasn't it. My temps are just as they were with my old pump. Idling at 32C and that's OC'd to 3.7ghz. I took this out of the equation by resetting my BIOS back to default which was 3.0ghz. After doing this, I managed to get into Windows (XP Pro) for roughly 30 minutes before it just shutdown again and then restarted itself. It's done this several times and occasionally will get stuck in a restart loop where it will reboot itself 3-4 times in a row before finally staying on (which is only for a few minutes anyway)...
I can't think of what would be causing this. None of the PC critical hardware changed. The only piece of hardware that was altered was the water pump. That's it. And this never happened before.
Any ideas fellas? This is really frustrating. I spent all day cleaning my watercooling parts so I could essentially start anew with this pump but this issue is REALLY pissing me off.
I may try reseating the RAM, but other than that...can you guys think of what would be causing these random restarts?
Any and all help will be very much appreciated.
Thanks.
