Thermaltake 420Watt PSU, Ratings as follows:
+5.5V| 40A 3.3V| 30A 12V | 18A

Could this power supply be causing the random reboots?
I plan to add another raptor in it soon. Using the power supply calc and estimating
I can fit just under 18A for the 12V and well under the 5.5V and 3.3V's.
Please help me out this is driving me crazy.

(1) TT PSU's are NEVER recommended.
(2) These days you want a min of +12V@26A & more is better.

The "Best Bang for the Buck" right now is the new Antec True Power II 550W "SLI Certified" at new egg for only $89! ;)

If a psu has two 12V rails it can it support the A value for both of them combined?

I'd have to say too it's a possible PSU problem - Thermaltake units are often not capable of living up to their labels, and this one's a little weak to start with at 12v.

My routine suggestions for such a system are the Fortron AX500-A or FSP550-60PLG/PLN, Seasonic S12 above 430w, or the OCZ 520w.

All excellent choices, but I would go with the Seasonic S-12 500W or 600W. ;)

So would I... in fact, the 500w is on my shopping list if I can ever get the coin together for an upgrade ;)

I'm looking at an antec sp-500 for 81$ shipped second day. http://www.antec.com/specs/SP500_spe.html
The TPII looks really nice, but at newegg with taxes and shipping it'll be up there
in the 100$ range. How does the one I listed above stack up?
I' emailed antec asking about continious output on the 12v's but I dont know if
I'll get a straight answer or one at all.

Fine, enough power for just about any non-SLI PC. ;)

I'd have to say that 80% of the time when I have random reboots, it's the RAM. Either compatibility issues or just a bad stick.

What's funny is that 99% of the time when a customer has a random rebooting problem, the customer thinks it's a power supply problem. ;)

Your having random reboots and you installed new RAM.

I'm not saying the problem ISN'T the power supply, because that PSU has a suck ass 12V rail, but you didn't add anything to the 12V rail.

I'll tell you what, replace the power supply... but if it keeps rebooting.... ;)

Johnny is 100% correct, it may not be your PSU.

RAM, high temps, bad drivers, & software problems all can cause this.

You have choosen an excellent upgrade, however there may be other issues.

Yeah I've thought as much as to my RR's being caused by the newram.. Its rated at 2--3-3-3 but right now I have it set on auto. 3-4-4-8 I'll see how it goes for a couple of weeks before making any purchases. I'll try swapping banks too. i dont think i have them in the factory reccomended slots. ((1 c or m's god I hate grammer) (Time to RTFM) Thanks for all your help guys.
