Random rebooting problem, C2D + P5Q

Hello everyone! It's my first post afer a long time of unregistered lurking. Nice to meet you all.

I'm having a bit of a problem with my rig:

C2D E7400 @ 3,8 GHz
Asus P5Q Pro
Gainward GeForce 260 GTX 216 Core
OCZ Platinum 2x2 GB RAM
WD Caviar Blue 500 GB
Corsair VX550
Windows 7 Business 64-bit

The system was extremely stable for two years. A month ago I got two restarts while watching a flash video, nothing in the logs, no bluescreen. I ran memtest86, but it passed fine. No more restarts though. Then, yesterday, another came along. Today I'm at ~15 restarts and still counting, sometimes it just reboots, sometimes it hangs on a single-colored screen (blue, black, red, it's random) with the sound looping and I have to press reset myself. Twice it produce a bluescreen I didn't see, even though automatic restart on failure is turned off (windows did though, and after rebooting told me it was 0x124, it figures). Most of the time though logs are clean, no failure recorded whatsoever.

Since it happened mostly while watching flash videos, I though it was due to that. Yet, after disabling flash, two more restarts came along while nothing was happening (only IRC, torrent, my IM client and Chrome with a few tabs were running). I did some stress testing, Prime95, OCCT and FurMark completed just fine. Still, it could be voltage problem. To be sure, I just put everything on stock and no luck, it's still restarting.

Temps are fine, GPU is high-ish at 68c idle, but that's to be expected with a stock cooler. My CPU has a Mugen 2 cooler, so it won't go over 50c however I stress it (34c idle). NB is a wee bit high, 48c idle, but still nothing to write home about, both disks are 45c.

The restarts themselves are completely random, sometimes it'll go on for hours, sometimes it'll restart a few minutes after the last one, I see no correlation with system load or anything. Although it happened only once when the system was completely idle (I wasn't touching it), the rest of the time it restarts at the exact time I click a mouse or scroll the wheel, not inbetween.

Any ideas?
 
Try a different video card
Try a different motherboard.
 
That I know. But isn't there anything I could check besides that? I'm kinda broke ATM and my nearby friends have AMDs and/or don't have a PSU that can support my GPU if we were to switch.

On another note - I just ran Ubuntu LiveCD for 2 hours straight without problems. I'll try cleaning and reseating everything in the case tomorrow and I'll reinstall W7. If that doesn't help I guess I'll have to switch at least the GPU. For mobo, well... I hope it's not the mobo.

If only I could reproduce the crash at will, things would be so much easier.
 
I don't, but I think I can borrow one from a friend. We'll see when I get a hold of him. Thanks for this tip.

Ok, now it doesn't reboot. The only difference is that I turned utorrent off (I got tired of it rehashing downloads after every reboot). I'm not convinced that this is the case, however rebooting did start around the time I queued a 37 GB download (lots of big files) yesterday, which was filling the bandwidth (10Mbit/s) completely today. It might be just that the PC decided not to reboot for a bit, though after a whole day of rebooting I don't think that's likely. Anyway, I won't use utorrent for 24h, after which, if there's no rebooting, I'll turn it on and let it sit there. It would explain why most reboots occured during watching flash movies - streaming stressed the bandwidth with another parallel download.

BTW, is there a way to stress test this faster? And is this even plausible?
