RAM Issues - Compatability?

I'm not exactly an expert on computer hardware so was wondering if someone could give me some insight into an issue I'm having with some new ram I ordered.

I was previous using:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820145043

But am switching over to:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820104001

Motherboard:
http://www.intel.com/products/motherboard/d975xbx/

In terms of compatability, from what I could see, the new RAM should work. However, whenever I seat the new RAM (and I've seated both sticks individually) the comp beeps 3 times and I get a blank screen on startup. I've tried a few recommendations including updating the BIOS to the latest version as well as cleaning out the CMOD before installing the new RAM but it still doesn't work.

My question is: Am I missing something in terms of compatability or is there anything else I can try to get these sticks working? And, if you don't notice anything wrong do you think I just got a couple of bad sticks?

Finally, are there any changes I should make to the BIOS memory settings to get these new sticks working (I checked and it looks like it's on the proper settings)? Or, if there is a problem with compatability can you recommend any RAM in 2 x 2GB permutations that will work on this motherboard (cost shouldn't be an issue unless it's absurdly expensive).

Thanks for any help you can offer.

I noticed the new ram is speced at 2.0 V while intel default ram voltage is 1.8V.

That could be a problem if you do not have memory voltage adjustments available in the bios.

I can adjust the memory voltage in the BIOS, but would this cause the ram to be completely unfunctional.

I'm up to trying it but am worried that if I do change the voltage and it doesn't solve the problem I may start having the exact same problem with the old ram and starting up, in which case I wouldn't be able to get back to the BIOS at all and would be completely screwed. Any thoughts?

Can I gather from the absence of responses that no one is noticing any issues and it's probably just a couple of bad sticks of RAM?
