Raidmax RX700SS 700w PSU

Raidmax = Crap

If you want to spend that much money on a power supply look for a deal on a Corsair HX620.

Spending $129.99 on that would be a crime.

What are you trying to run, what are your specs?

Oh yeah, good call.

What's wrong with the Antec you have? That should work fine.

Well I don't "have" anything yet I still need to order it. Anyways that PSU is not modular and I'm getting a Antec 900, not exactly a good mix if you want decent wiring arrangements.

Raidmax makes some pretty crappy power supplies so I wouldn't bother with it. The fact that nowhere on the PSU itself or on the Raidmax website does it state how much watts and amps are available on the +12V rail should be a sign of Raidmax quality.

For modularity, I recommend these PSUs:
Corsair HX520 520W PSU - $105
Corsair HX620 620W PSU - $147

Raidmax doesn't make squat. ;)

Seriously, anyone make out that UL #? E243.... ???? I don't have any PSU manufacturers that start with E243. Looks like ATNG or Solytech, but the UL # isn't even close.

e243838?

...Comes up as an OEM by the name of Raidtronics? QQGQ8.E243838. Or does Raidmax=Raidtronics Inc? [edit] Confirmed.. googling Raidtronics brings up buyraidmax.com, and Contact Us address is same as listed in the UL listing... Sneaky trying to hide the OEM there. Still wouldn't trust them even if they are ultimately made by a reputable OEM.[/edit]

Anyway, @ OP. Check out Clubit. They have the 520HX Corsair @ $81 AR, and the 620HX @ $111 AR...Both are $9/shipping :(.

Oh, and @ OP by "really nice", I suppose you mean pretty? We really need to get the average Joe off that way of thinking - that leads to people buying $160 "600w" bling PSUs @ Worst Buy from some unknown "maker", OEM'd by god knows who. Besides the Corsair, might I suggest the Antec Quattro 850 @ ~$150 via froogle, or Newegg's Rosewill RX750 @ ~$135 in either single or dual fan form?...Both the 750w ($135, $30 combo discount if you buy with some memory, HDD, case, few other choices) and 850w models did quite well in a JG review (actually OK_Wolf I think, but I digress). Both Rosewill's are NOT modular however (you could always hide the excess in unused drive bays @ the bottom or something), but do "look nice" and are of a known maker and as I said tested well... And ALL 3 being way more power than you need, but probably good on the efficiency/noise angle (not maxing them out)

Oh, my bad :). At least I got the right site.

The one thing that kind of irks me on those particular PSUs though... They're both [edit](well 4 technically since single/dual fan units @ each level)[/edit] SLI certified (not that it means ANYTHING really), the 750 for 8800GTS, 850 for 8800GTX, and they DO have 4xPCI-e connectors, but ALL 6 pins..No 8 pinners to be found, hopefully Newegg/Rosewill has (or will soon) make at least 2 of them 8 pins, or at least 8 pin/6 pins 'convertibles'. I wouldn't mind seeing a modular version at some point, if it keeps a similar price point and quality level as well.

ps Good luck w/ the new job. Big loss for the community, but it can only help us all ultimately .. Hopefully you can help get BFG on the right OEM track w/ future units. The 1000w was a BIG disappointment, considering the price (at that time) especially.

What would I need 8 pin for anyways? The 8800GTX uses 2x6 pin. But I would really like to see some reviews or articles on this PSU or a similiar psu from Raidmax.

the ati hd 2900xt needs an 8 pin. Most future cars will probably use them too.they let you run more voltage through them..
