I'm looking into picking this up for my new machine (specs in sig). I was hoping you guys could throw your opinions at me before i commit. note that this psu is about $50.00 off. Thanks in advance guys.

here are a few others I was glancing at as well, and yes, looks are important. I want it to have blue led's because I have a see through power supply bay and it needs to be put to use :)

Of course, price is always to be put into consideration as well. I'm not too knowledgeable on the PSU subject but those stickys helped a little bit.

People here are gonna be like, eww Raidmax. I have owned two Raidmax PSU's, and never once has one failed me.

Go for it :D

I wouldn't go with any of the PSUs you selected:
Apevia: Well known for making subpar and shitty power supplies. Avoid like the plague unless you want a dead PC.

EagleTech ET-PSVO700 PSU: 40A on the +12V rail? Stupid low for a 700W PSU considering that many 500W PSUs have that much power. Sure sign of it's low quality right there. Another avoid as well.

Sigma Shark SP-635 635W: If I'm reading the PSU label right, the ripple& noise rating for the +3.3V and +5V rails is 70mv. That exceeds the ATX 2.2 specifications which states the max is suppose to be 50mv for the +3.3V and +5V rails. Another avoid as well

Raidmax: Same exact problem as the Sigma shark.

So with that said, I recommend this good quality PSU:
Corsair 750TX 750W PSU - $99

Because a high wattage psu that doesn't blow up when you plug it into a system with low draw is totally worth it

right guys?

i wish that apevia was a quality unit...i've always thought it looked pretty cool. that eagle tech is one of the ugliest piece of electronics i have ever seen my god. i feel you on the want for a bling edition power supply but like everyone else has said you're asking for trouble with the ones you're looking at. just get a corsair and be done with it.

It's funny how you put that, because I just got done from listening to my wife whining about the same thing. I want a quality unit, i really do; but like I said earlier, looks are a factor, all I'm asking for is a quality PSU with blue freaking led's that I can't seem to find anywhere. I wish this was an easier task :) Thanks for your help guys

I'm confused, so the only problem is a noise level? I apologize if thats not what you're talking about but if its noise thats a problem, that's not an issue at all for me.

EDIT: ......meh....? meh? how bout these. We'll compensate

Not actual noise, electrical noise. Also ripple are voltage fluctuations. It's not bad to have ripple but it is bad when the ripple is out of specifications, which is exactly what Sigma Shark and Raidmax both have. Out of spec ripple = slow PC death.

And again, don't bother with ANY Apevia PSU. Apevia has yet to make a good quality PSU. The only reason why Apevia still sells is due to the bling bling crap they add on to their shitty PSUs. Also the hec isn't known for making good PSUs either. Another avoid as well.

Since blue LED is a factor for you, go for this PSU then:
Antec NeoPower 650 Power Supply 650W - $104

Not as good as the Corsair PSU I recommended earlier but still a better quality PSU than any of the PSUs you've chosen so far.

Because a high wattage psu that doesn't blow up when you plug it into a system with low draw is totally worth it

right guys?

Right! :D

Thanks, i'll look into that one. Sorry i keep picking out the crap brands, it seems like theres millions of companies. For 11 bucks more with shipping, I'll be happy to take your suggestion and pick this one up.

Blue LED+quality?

Check out the Rosewill (one of the Egg's house brands) Xtreme PSUs - they did pretty well @ JG's some time ago. (link).

RX750SB - $100 + $11 ship :)o)
RX850SB - $120/FS.

Once in a while Newegg will have that line, either dual or single fan units on sale + free shipping, something like $80ish for the 750, $100ish for the 850, $110-120 for the 950. Although, I'd probably just go for the Antec - available at a given ~$100 price *now*, has the blue fan that you wanted, is modular, has a *5* year warranty (Rosewill's are 3), and unless Rosewill/Newegg hasn't updated their sites the PSUs use 6 pin for PCIe (Antec uses 1x6 and a 1x6+2 for the Neo 650).

$100 shipped for the RX750SB @ ChiefValue (yet another ABS alter ego).

I was looking at these earlier but I could have sworn that I heard somewhere to stay away from Roswill....I can't recall where, it might have even been on these forums.

Rosewill PSUs can be good, some are crap other kick ass, just like Ultra PSUs... ;)

Man these things are just plain confusing to me. You think you're looking at a bad brand and it turns out some are good, yet, the good ones can sometimes be bad. Bad news today though, my old 20 dollar 500 watt psu that was attempting to hold my pc over until I ordered my new power supply, decided to call it quits. I have now officially given up on the bling. I just need a quality product 630 watts or above. I've compiled a new list after more research if you all have not given up hope on me.

Corsair 650 = 90 after rebate, free shipping:

Cooler Master 650 = 70 after rebate, free shipping:

Antec 650 (as stated earlier) = 110 with shipping

I recommend getting the $100 Corsair 750TX I linked to in my first post here. Best deal on a good 750W PSU I've ever seen. I recommend getting in on it.

Though if you have to stick to newegg, get the Corsair 650TX. It's the better PSU out of the three you chose.

I normally buy only from newegg but I do apologize, I totally forgot about that first post. I wouldn't have even linked the 650 one. Thanks for the reminder

No need to apologize. I miss posts sometimes too.

Yeah, I just wish the corsair 750tx from your link was black like the one on newegg...or i wish newegg would drop the price 20 bucks.

It's the exact same PSU. There's no color differences between the 750TX from Provantage and the one from Newegg. It's just the way Provantage takes its pictures that makes the 750TX not look black.

Get yourself an Antec Earthwatt PSU, a 500w will be just fine, check out the hot deals and see if you can nab one for $50, which is what I paid for mine at Circuit City.

I'm actually attempting to future-proof myself just a bit actually, because i plan on going SLI in the future. Thanks for everyones advice. I did just buy the 750tx from that link Danny Bui left. Thanks! I'll let you guys know when the build is complete, as this is the final component.
