I have almost finished putting my rig together all I need now is a power supply and a video card.
Is there anything wrong with this PSU that I missed?

I won't resort to mudslinging, but do note the lack of +12V combined power rating, the max noise ripple ratings of 70mV for the +3.3V, +5V and +5VSB (spec is 50mV) and the lack of PFC (not that you need PFC, but it's usually a good gauge of quality.)

Interesting that they display both Crossfire AND SLI logos on the front of the box. I wonder if Nvidia knows about this.
 
No for the reasons JonGerow has stated.

Before I make a PSU recommendation, got some questions that need to be answered:
- Why are you only getting 1GB of RAM? I recommend getting 2GB of RAM at least. RAM is cheap these days. Might as well get in on the low prices before they go back up or something.
- What video card will you be getting?
- What are you planning to do with this PC?

I only have 1GB of RAM now because I'm really low on cash. I will however get another stick once I get more money.

As for the video card, I'm looking at this HD 3850...

and as for use, I will probably be using it for gaming the most. Just the basics, TF2, BF2142, CoD4, BF2, etc. Nothing like Crysis.

Finally as for a PSU, I'd like something around 700W. I've been looking at this one for quite awhile, but thought getting a crossfire supported PSU would be safer.

Like 4745454b said, you don't need a 700W PSU. That Seasonic PSU that he linked to will be just fine for your system. Also, that FSP PSU was a bad choice anyway. It's based off the FSP Episilon PSU design which has out of spec ripple, or voltage fluctuations, at high loads that can damage or kill your system. Granted, you may not reach such high loads but why pay for PSU that can kill your system?

Also, if you're low on cash, why are you spending $140 on a motherboard? What is about that motherboard that made you ignore other and decent under or around $100 motherboards as well as made you sacrifice some RAM? Better yet, what features do you need in a motherboard?

And finally, drop the HD3850. The 9600GT performs better than the HD3850 yet it costs exactly the same:

If your going to go that far, why is he getting AMD? He can get a P35 motherboard for ~$100, and a cheap 2180 for ~$80. I doubt the difference would be much at stock, and once overclocked, the 2180 would be much faster.

Not just yet. have to see what he needs in a motherboard exactly and whether or not he plans to overclock. The $60 X2 4200+ actually performs on par with the $80 E2180. If he's not planning on overclocking, even though the E2180 will beat the shit out of the X2 4200+ once overclocked, that $20 can be spent elsewhere, like more RAM.

In fact, DeepFrz, will you be overclocking?
 
Actually, the point might be moot. If you read the first post he states that the PSU and video card are the last things he needs. Kinda pointless to argue over this now...

And you call that NOT mudslinging? ;) Well I guess you carefully applied the mud to their face.

I too am curious about whether or not Nvidia knows about the SLI and Crossfire badging on that product.
 
I wouldn't even consider anything other then name brand PSUs after reading a few [H] reviews.
 
9600GT vs 3850 is not even a debate anymore. The 9600GT pretty much walks all over the Radeon, you need to bump up to a 3870 for a good comparison, and those cost more than a 9600GT so the choice is pretty clear.
 
Its not mud slinging, its fact slinging. Learn the difference.

Mud slinging is what fanboys do. If you don't have the facts on your side, sling mud/fud.

In fact, DeepFrz, will you be overclocking? The answer to that is No. If I wanted to overclock I would have gone with Intel.

Everyone Else, I guess...

The reason I'm thinking about getting a 3850 is that I may try Crossfiring eventually (Because the mobo doesn't support SLi), which also lead me to believe that i may be needing a 700W.
