RAID-1 and AHCI mode question

I am not sure whether my RAID-1 array is working as it should be. Here is the "problem":

I upgraded the computer as follows:

Old system:
Gigabyte GA-965P-DQ6 (Intel 965 chipset)
Intel Pentium D, Presler 945
BIOS was set to RAID and there were two SATA-II HD's on RAID-1.

Upgrade
Asus Maximus IV Gene-Z
Intel Core i5 2300
BIOS set to AHCI. Intel IRST, and JMicron RAID drivers installed.

I connected the same two HD's to new MB without formatting and the system appears to be recognizing them in RAID-1, without me changing the settings (to RAID) in BIOS. I mean, the two HD's are reognized as one drive in Windows 7. I disconnected each one to test the setup, but received no warnings during POST of after boot.

Do you think this is working or should I reinstall OS under RAID (HD settings in BIOS)?

Thanks for replies in advance!!

Sounds like it is working with the same/similar FakeRAID controller, so you should be good to go, especially if the BIOS and controller are seeing the drives as a RAID1 array.

The RAID BIOS on those two boards should be exactly the same except the newer board might have a newer revision. You should be good to go as far as the actual array goes, but you may want to reinstall Windows just for the sake of driver differences with the rest of the motherboard.

Hell if it were me I would break the array and re-create it just for the sake of having a clean start.
