So its not even day time on the day of release and there is a texture loading bug and that makes it a shitty console port? I fail to see the logic in how one bug makes it a shitty console port.

What about all the visual bugs Crysis 2 had day of release? Plenty of people jumped into that thread and defended the shit out of it. But since this is Id we're talking about everyone has jumped on the "hate" train pretty quick. Too me at least nothing was worse than Brink day 1 , that game is garbage rolled into a thousand used diapers from a senior assistance living community.

I'd focus more on Rage's game play issues than a day 1 texture loading bug that'll get patched or fixed with updated GPU drivers.

Blame Willits. He is responsible for the extreme crapness that Id games have been gameplay and setting-wise since Romero left. No-talent hack.
 
Just fix the texture pop-ins on the PC and I'll be golden. I'm downloading the 11.10 Catalyst Preview drivers to see if that does anything.

I do have to ask though... why won't Id hire Romero back?

His previous work history after Id will prevent Romero from ever getting a job anywhere with an annual budget for gaming larger than $1 cell phone game. Romero has been a hack for ages now struggling to get back into the industry and has been making forgettable cell phone type games for a while.

Yup carmack said himself the lead platform was the consoles. Sadly if you guys stop buying console ports.. They will stop making PC copies of the game. Cant win or lose :(

Games like this don't need to make it to PC. My Hard Reset $27 purchase was worth it, RAGE looks like it was a $60 back alley ass rape.
 
So, we now have Rage sucks, BF3 sucks (based on beta), MW3 sucks (by virtue that it is COD), what are we left with for PC? All hopes are on Skyrim being awesome? Or have we decided that sucks based on combat system, consolisation, animations, etc? :p

gaming in general just sucks....

I am having a lot more fun with older games than any new games. they are all just lifeless bleh...

PLaying Mega Man Legends 2 at the moment after just finishing the first one again.
 
From the reviews it seems like the price tag should drop pretty quick. Not justifying that 20% increase in prices these last few years. Developers - Tighten your belts. Publishers- Work with what you have. Either lower prices, quit complaining about poor sales, or start taking more risks. This started as an Art it was never meant to be a business.
 
Come on guys, the game is quite bland, but I don't think Carmack deserves all the shit-throwing. He "sort of" admits the game has problems.


But of course, one could argue that he knew there were terrible shits going on with the game, yet he did nothing...

We have Saints Row: The Third, Skyrim, Serious Sam 3, Torchlight 2... all of which shit all over Rage. I felt quite a while ago that Rage would be a dead, flat effort, and I was right.

Gaming has, disgustingly enough, become like music... it's mostly garbage, much of it being over-produced, talentless shit that developers hype to no end and have the balls to charge $60 for.

Luckily, there are games that should be quality, coming up in the next six months.

Visually, one of the worst looking games that has come out in 7 years. Far Cry looks better than this. This game aint got shit on Duke Nukem Forever. I'm just awe struck. I told my nephew tonight gaming has died. The true pc gaming is dead forever, fuck your texture packs, fuck your patches. This is a Xbox 360 game ported sneakily to look like a pc game. It's a wolf in sheeps clothing. No goddamn excuse that having a sandy at 5 ghz, 12 gigs of ram, and a GTX 480 @ 580 with 1.5 gb of ram looks like this. I want my $60 back motherfucker!

This is why you never pre-order or buy a game without a demo or seen a lot of reviews for it. Hype will rape your wallet. Also, learn that if a title is released for both consoles and PC, the chance of the PC version sucking is very high.

I think Publishers are getting really dependent on first day sales and pre-orders. The days of a games reputation holding up its value over time died with Half-life 2. Other than Bioshock I can't really think of any FPS games that had enough quality to keep eating into peoples pockets for more than a few months. I really rely these days on player feedback and reviewer purchase reviews. The last game I really blew any money on was Homefront. Man I got burned so hard.

Bad game is a bad game, no matter if it's on console or PC.
 
This thread's hilarious. If most of you would have at least watched or read SOMETHING about this game then 99% of the issues you are bitching about you'd of been aware of prior to launch.

Bitching about "Consolitis" where have you been the past 6 years when id's been taking about this game?

I know I paid close attention, which is why I didn't touch it... no idea why so many others didn't have the brains and general common sense to see where this was going.

It's been blatantly obvious that Rage was going to be a flat, over-hyped effort, aimed directly at consoles.

While the video looked good, there was quite a bit of texture popping in there. However it seems much less apparent than in other videos I have seen.

Dice had nothing to lose. By saying PC took the priority they found a win/win because console gamers don't give a shit. By saying console took the lead, PC gamers would throw a fit (I don't blame them). Who knows if PC was truly the lead platform? I wouldn't put it past them to say that just to make PC gamers happy.

That does look like the case, but I am seeing just as much texture popping on the HD 6970 in my personal system, a Core 2 Extreme QX9700 @ 3.6GHz with 8GB of DDR3. The textures pop in a whole lot faster on my system, but the pop-in is there. I'm setting the game up on my [H] test system to see if it does the same thing, but I suspect it will.
 
If it ends up being a texture pop in issue, I've seen it all on AMD Video Cards. I have a AMD myself and will test it tonight when I get home.

I think this may be an issue with AMD, not specifically id. But that's just a 5 minute judgement based on some quick web crawling.
 
This review from ShuttleLuv posted after the game had been out for 1.5-hours....

I myself enjoyed the hell out of the little amount of time that I got to play. I'll reserve my judgement for when I finish the game.
 
Are there any actual reviews of the pc version with pics out on this yet? More detail on what sucks or is good....all the bitching and complaining on this thread is pointless fanboy/hater bullshit at this point.
 
Weren't you posting threads about us having to buy this game because "IT"S A REAL PC GAME!!". We told you so. We told you it would suck.

i never pre-order shit, nor do i buy shit on the first day of release.
 
I'm reserving judgement till I play the game tonight after work. If it sucks then Carmack and his games are dead to me from now on. I'll vote with my wallet.
 
Played an hour this morning.... Looked great and worked fine for me.
