RadeonPro Dead

I don't really know much about the "Raptr app" thing, but could this possibly mean some of the features from RadeonPro could make their way into an official driver utility from AMD?

That would be nice.
 
John also said a new version of RadeonPro is coming back in August 2013 so i wouldnt put a lot of faith in radeonpro features making it into the raptr app anytime soon.

It may be a bit pessimistic but i think we will just have to make do with the radeonpro we have now and hope in the future someone comes up with something new and better.
 
Not "dead" but "frozen" due to lack of time on the devs part.

Hopefully someone else picks up where he left off. The "AMD Gaming Evolved" app is pathetic in featureset compred to RadeonPro.
 
Its dead, dead as a dodo. Face it :p Its not had a major update in over a year while it was alive so in its frozen state it could be years if at all before we see an update.
 
Well this sucks. NVIDIA Inspector is amazing and RadeonPro was the closest thing. I wish AMD would have just hired the guy and let him integrate all of RadeonPro into CCC. I couldn't care less about Raptr, I never use it.

You switched vendors because of a 3rd party app??

ATT used to be good a few years back, but it hasn't been updated in around 3 years. I never liked RadeonPro much myself until a year or so ago, but it does the job, and supports the newer cards.

While I can understand peoples frustration at the author devoting more of his time to his real job, the sad fact is most people (i.e. not the enthusiasts), will rely on one-click apps like Raptr.
 
I've used RP for years and don't hesitate to promote it, and I actually see this as a good thing long term. Short term pain maybe, but I see this as an overall positive.

You're damn right.
Well, ATT and RBE. Back then Nvidia was locked down like Fort Knox. I used ATT on my 4870 and 5870 over the years -- I just replaced my 5870 about 2 weeks ago, and yes ATT still worked on it.

Now that both of those utilities are dead, I have no reason to stick with AMD anymore. I only do it now because it's been so long since I've owned Nvidia and don't really have any direct reason to change brands.
If something like RadeonPro is good enough to replace ATT then I may as well give it a shot.
 
This is one reason why I ordered ASUS GTX 780 DCII today. No guarantee that RP will work with future drivers and if that happens I would be screwed. This is a nice card but software is holding it back. Also it feels like the benchmark performance does not quite realise in actual games. GTX 780 performance was more consistent. It is a shame that I bought windforce GTX 780. If it would have been better product (mainly crappy fans and weird fan speed variances) I would have never tried 290.
 
im sure John will update the libraries as nessisry when new drivers/cards are released..

Ray (ATT) on the other hand is MIA.

Oh boy, I wish someone could say me where I said a new version of RP was coming in August 2013, there are other forums and also on Facebook where people are saying that RP 2.0 was being developed for years... so years of wait for nothing.... :confused:

I only remember I said in August 27th that back on June I started working on new infinity aka RadeonPro 2.0, but as you don't seem to be aware, developing RadeonPro was not my work. I don't make money from it so I need to work on my primary job to pay my bills, guess it's not difficult to understand that is how a hobby works.

There were never major updates during RP 1.x development cycle. Only minor updates and some new features added from time to time.

Can't say anything regarding Raptr but about RP, it might be updated in order to fix some annoying bugs like 64-bit helper module and proper detection of games launched with different user privileges. I just can't set an ETA for that update.

If RP gets broken by some update to Catalyst, I'll be more than happy to work with AMD to get it fixed as soon as possible, just cannot promise new features pushed on RadeonPro due to legal issues that might arise. Straight to the point, you cannot work for a company and develop something similar in parallel as a hobby without causing a conflict of interests.

Im fully aware it wasn't Johns work and never entered the forums on his site or elsewhere telling him to hurry the fuck up. I was always patient as i fully understood it was only worked on when he had time.

Regarding updates Major, minor, potato, potahto. Every company like every consumer regards updates differently. Id say the last major update was April 2013 so sorry for over exagerrating by a month ;)

If, yeah, if we're talking about 7 months of continuous work on some (completely new should I note) product then I must agree that's a long time. Granted, no matter what I say is gonna change things so I just would like to ask to let matters take their course.
