Radeon 9700np and PCI

Hey guys my question is,will my radeon 9700 work if i put it into PCI slot? will it work?
 
Send it to me and I'll give it a try, it's much too dangerous for an amature like yourself. :confused:
 
Of course we're sure. Why would you want to do something crazy like that in first place (not even talking about the fact the it won't physically fit without extreme force, in which case you probably damaged the card and your motherboard without even turning on your computer. If you would be lucky enough to force the card into the slot AND you could turn it on, then at latest THEN the computer would be broken)

Convinced?
 
the physical slot connection is not compatible

AGP, PCI, PCI-E, none of them are interchangeable slots
 
On a side note:

Sometimes i believe people don't think enough for themselves. I mean....even if you're a complete computer idiot, then in heavens name, why would they call the card ATI 9700 AGP? Probably not because it snuggles so nicely in a PCI slot?!

A little common sense should be applied when handling electronic devices. Really. You don't use your hair dryer in the bathtub either, do you?

I don't mean this as an insult by the way. Take it more like an encouragement to think.

Big thanks for the replies,even for the "insulting" ones ;)
now i finally convinced my father that its not suitable for pci if its an agp card...some friend of him told him there is no differents between pci and agp slots and it could fit easly but now(thanx to you) he knows the truth!

I wouldn't really call that an insult. If he's asking a question like that I really wouldn't want him poking around inside a computer and I would consider it too dangerous. He could have forced it and broken the card and/or the motherboard. Plus a simple search of AGP vs PCI on google would have given the answer.

I would like to think of the Hardforum members as having somewhat of a knowledgeable reader base, not a place to ask 'Can AGP fit in PCI' or 'Can USB fit in my serial mouse slot' (I've actually seen this one before).

far be it for me to ask for a little maturity when replying to someone's post when they clearly had a question and needed an answer
