Radeon 7990

im gonna take a wild guess and say, its like oh I dunno maybe, perhaps two seven nine seventys
 
The 7990 will actually be a new chip design based off of the 5450, and will be a lower-end version of the 8350 passively cooled home-theatre card.

I think AMD has delayed the 7990 because they want to make it dual GHz editions, in order to take the lead from the GTX690.

I think you are right about them not wanting to release it unless it's faster. They are probably fighting with perf/watt.
