I've been using Adaptive AA at 8X with 24X edge detect and it looks beautiful. However, there are a few games like Company of Heroes, where those settings might be a little too high (still getting 52 fps in built-in benchmark). What AA settings are my [H] brothers running?

Congrats! Man you must be one of the first people on these forums to physically have his 5970. Did you choose overnight shipping or something? That's insane AA. Do me a favor, run the RE5 benchmark at max in game settings and post a screenshot of your results.

Same day shipping + overnight = 5970 in hands yesterday morning :) I'll run the benchmark and post screenshots tonight.

For the life of me, when I would take the screenshots, they would appear as solid black. So you'll have to settle for my digital camera pic instead. System in sig - 8X Adaptive AA 24X Edge Detect, 16X AF, all in game settings at max:

I love how the FPS graph is virtually flat. That's 137 FPS average and probably 130+ min at those AA settings. Can't wait for my 5970 to arrive, I think Monday it will be here.

PS the best way to get RE5 screenshots is to use FRAPS. The normal printscreen method doesn't seem to work.

The print screen button works fine on my Windows XP box, so I figure it is some weird Windows Vista/Windows 7 glitch. Back to the benchmark, while watching it, the lowest fps I saw was 131.

Wow, thats some awesome result right there.

Like was mentioned flat line - fps dipped what 6fps! amazing.

Agree dunno about others but IMHO Ati 5970 will become one of the best video cards ever trust me!

1.Great overclocker (Dual card!!!)

2.Low heat even when oc over 5870 clocks! (better custom made, coolers used compared to "regular" 5870s ones)

3.Great performance quite stable fps comparing other dual cards.

4.100$ cheaper then 2x5870 (can get their clocks very easy)

5 Ati used their best cherry picked chips for the 5970 which generate less heat and require lower voltages!

EPIC CARD!

too bad .. mine is not coming in until wed..

can't wait to use it with my gtx 280 for physx.... ( will try the mod driver)
if it doesn't work..
i may have to buy one of those ageia physx card...

Hmm, I agree. I might jump on one. At current prices it is $200 cheaper than two 5870. I was planning on crossfiring two down the road but if I can get that level of performance now for the same price it is a good deal imo. For a card like that I would want lifetime warranty though so I'll wait for the XFX one to show up.

Compared to even a 8800gt the ageia card will be pretty slow, the pci-e x1 card would be better but i don't think it comes close. (nvidia bought ageia so who knows whether it would work with ati anyway)

Modded drivers seem to work pretty well, always been meaning to put my 8800ultra in and test it out :)

I don't want the extra heat and am pretty sure i would have to upgrade my psu but otherwise.. well tbh $1350 here so no way lol.

I'm sure this is an easily searched query, but I'll be lazy and ask it here anyways. I understood that PhysX isn't an option in XP with an ATI card in the system, at least that is what I was led to believe, is that the same story in Win 7? Thinking of trading one of my 295s for a 260 + cash so I can use it as a PhysX card when my 5970 gets here, but I won't bother if I can't run it.

I know that in Vista you cannot run 2 different graphics drivers so that means I will actually have to upgrade to Win 7 on my gaming box :(

Works fine in win7.

That's insane. Talk about perfect scaling...

I don't get it, if it can do resident evil 5 at that level of aa/af it shouldn't dip to 14fps in modern warfare 2 as stated in some reviews, and by another member in these forums.

Thats just temporary drivers problems it will be fixed in future. Still are you trying that hard to find week side of 5970? If you do then i got bad news for you, this card is fucking monster in every other game comparing Nvidia GTXxxx cards. Especially with tons of AA.

I'm aware that toms is not an good forum anymore but still you can get the idea. Only 10% drop with 8XAA EPIC! oh and look at 2560x1600 graphs, single 5870 rapes 2x GTX285 thats sad.
