Good to see prices coming down on these to where they should be...Thank GOD for the GTX460 768mb....maybe after the GTS450 comes out we'll see the 5770 at $120 and the 5750 drop down to $100 and the 5670 drop to $80....you know...where the prices SHOULD be...never thought I'd say this, but thank goodness for nVidia...I may not have one of their modern cards (the latest nVidia card I have is a GTX 275) products, but I'm sure we all appreciate the competition.

Thank GOD for the GTX460 768mb[...]thank goodness for nVidia.
I love competition too, but Nvidia isn't the bastion of consumer-oriented goodness that you think. Nvidia only grudgingly gave up a card like the GTX 460 after the free market had to beat it out of them for nine months. Nvidia should be chastised for that kind of behavior, not worshiped with slobbering gratitude because they tossed us one tiny scrap from their dinner table.

ATI were the ones who released the 5870 at $380 when Nvidia had spent the last three years releasing their top cards at $500+ (including the most recent one, GTX 480).

Also, nice deal. I'm buying two.

And AMD/ATI is the company of the people? Sorry but the only people they (both nvidia and amd) look out after are the share holders. It's a business, simple as that. The game has gone back and forth for a while now. They both have $500+ cards but they also know that 99% of the people are looking for mainstream products. I mean how long did ATI sell the 5850 above retail price for? It's only finally started to drop in price to the original MSRP with sales and rebates. Why did it take this long for the 5830 to drop in price when it wasn't even well reviewed? The arrival of the GTX460 changed that because it hits a real sweet spot at $200. Not $300 like what the 5850 was priced at before and not $220 with the 5830 prior nvidia dropping the GTX460.

Likewise, if it wasn't for AMD we wouldn't have had great cards such as the 4870 and 4850 that drove the prices down on the GTX280, 275, and 260.

AMD held out on dropping the price of the 5800 series for a year and you know what I don't blame them. They were in a position where they could make as much profit as possible and they took advantage of it. That's what business is all about.

I'm not loyal to either company, just to my pocket book.

+1...

I didn't say anything that disagreed with that. I'm just saying there's no need to worship and be grateful to Nvidia (like in the OP) for doing what they were supposed to do nine months ago. ATI had to force a competitive product out of them...nvidia released the GTX 480 and GTX 470 hoping that the public would be happy to pay $500 and $350 for their cards (which they weren't, of course).

bwahahahhahahhahahhahahhahahahhahahhahahhaha internet genious does not understand how the freemarket works.....ATi sells chips not entire video cards (although all of them are ATi's reference design at lauch) and the AIB charge what people are willing to pay for them. Prices remained high becuase Nvidia had it's collective engineering head stuck up it's ass.........
