I'm thinking about replacing a couple of case fans I currently have. They are running around 2200rpm, and seem kind of loud. I was wondering if anyone knew of good case fans which can move a lot of air, yet have a low dba rating?
 
Scythe Gentle Typhoon - D1225C12B3AP-14 - 1450rpm. Very quiet and good air movement.
Jab-tech sells them. Not cheap at roughly $15 a pop, but one of the best.

Noctua fans are also really, really good - but even pricier (start at around $20 a pop).

Cheap alternative: a low or medium speed YATE LOON. Example, the D12SL-12C at $5 a pop, but the air flow vs. noise isn't quite as good as the higher end fans, but you'll save a lot...

Any of these options blow away standard/crappy case fans that typically come with most cases.

I bought a coolermaster case that came with 3 200mm fans and they are not only totally silent but they move alot of air, even at lower RPMs it seems. Dont know what the individual fans are called. But the case is a Storm Sniper black edition.
 
What size case fans? That would probably help. Scythe S-Flex SFF21E are nice. I'm debating between those and Yate Loon D12SL-12 myself. They both move the same amount of CFM but the S-Flex at 7 lower dba. Is lower dba worth $10 per fan? Probably not but that's just me.
 
the yate loons have got to be the best noise to cost ratio for sure

or any fans at 5v :D
 
It all depends on what your idea of "loud" is, being that they are running at 2200rpm and only seem "kind of" loud, I am betting the 1450rpm GT fans will seem ALLOT less noisy. If the GT fans cost to much I would go with some 1200rpm Slipstream fans, both of these have served me well, they also both undervolt and work well on controllers.
