I am purchasing my first loop, and I need to pick up a couple things for a T line. I was just wondering if a T line was really the way to go; I have seen Y fittings, and I would think that that would be a flow. Or does it really not matter?

Eh, I wouldn't go that far. I've seen (physically) some systems with a plethora of 90 degree elbow fittings and T-lines that adversely effect flow rates. In those cases I'd suggest Y-fittings in order to minimize resistance. But for the beginner, Arcygenical is right.....there's not much difference.

I think he meant using the bottom 2 ports as an inline branch for coolant filling...

IE, water wouldn't be directed at the 90 degree angle, but a straight 180 degree angle between the barbs along the X axis, and a column of fluid would rise above the Y axis in almost complete stagnation, terminated by a fillport.

In that case, as water is simply affected by the change in ID, and no added restriction due to a re-direction of water flow... I'd suspect an imeasurable at-best decrease in performance.
 
IMO, t-line is horrible... Reservoir and drain line is infinitely better...
