BellaCroix said:I'd agree... but when I ended up at the emergency room one night after several pieces of red hot metal had managed to burn into my cornea I was wearing eye protection. In fact it wasn't even Bob Villa safety glasses (you know, the ones that look like 1950's regular glasses) - these were lab goggles. Fit over my face like a ski mask. But there were still little vent hole which sparks managed to find and...

The only suggestion I have is that you cut so that the wheel is going into the top of the piece to be cut instead of tearing upward from the bottom. It's not that it makes any difference in how well it cuts (actually grinds) but it'll cut down on the number of sparks flying into your face.
$500 of medical bills later and permanent eye damage has taught me to wear REALLY good safety glasses when Dremeling anything. That being said I know we're all too manly, immortal, impervious to pain and injury, etc to actually wear glasses. Since you know you won't be wearing appropriate eye protection (c'mon, you know you wont) try to minimize the risk at least.

Haha I got two little rust spots in my eye from cutting with the cutoff wheel without safety glasses. They had to burr out the rust spots on my eyeball, so what did they whip out?!?!?! A TINY DREMEL!!!!
Ahkk, that wasn't fun.... but you can bet the percocet they gave to me afterwards was!!!
