Looking to set up some decent enough speakers for under 100 dollars.

This set of speakers.

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002RMPHMU/ref=s9_simh_gw_p23_d0_i3?pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_s=center-2&pf_rd_r=02MDA7H8VDAB6BWB9EC7&pf_rd_t=101&pf_rd_p=470938631&pf_rd_i=507846

And one of these two recievers/amps

http://www.amazon.com/LP-2020A-Lepai-Tripath-Class-T-Amplifier/dp/B0049P6OTI/ref=sr_1_2?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1344393228&sr=1-2&keywords=receiver

Or

What I'm wondering about is this, the first amp is easily the highest rated and most reviewed amp on amazon (under 100 dollars.) But it only puts out 20 Watts per channel. The speakers in their description say this

"Power Handling: 40 watts RMS/75 watts max ? Impedance: 8 ohms ?"

So basically what I read that as is this (probably wrong)
The amount of watts it needs : 40
Max amount of watts it can handle : 75
Impedance : 8 ohms

But I feel like that is wrong because there are almost no amplifiers with 2 channels that give 40 watts at 8 ohms. The second amp I listed gives 75 at 4 ohms which is I'm right equates to about 37.5 watts at 8 ohms. But thats just the max power output, which I'v read is much higher then the sustainable power output.

The other amp is rated at 20w per channel, at 4 ohms. Which is almost nothing compared to the 40 watts at 8 ohms the speakers require.

I'm pretty sure I'm missing something here , Please help.

Second question, this one is more straight forward. Is there a way to run a subwoofer along with a T amp? If so how come there are literally no subwoofers under 100 dollars on amazon when the 40 dollar computer speakers from Sony and Logitech have subwoofers included?

power handling of the speakers means when the manufacturer says the voice coil will incure damage.

(with this sub you will wire in parallel, but the concept is the same)

I'd avoid Pyle...cheap ass crap if you ask me.

The LP-2020A+ will do just fine and it probably a lot better made.

The Pyle amp is rated at 4 ohms, so it doesn't do 40 rms / 75 watts peak for the majority of speakers, most speakers are 8ohms. On the plus side it seems it can handle a 4ohm load which is good, but it's more likely to only output around 20 watts at best to 8ohm speakers and 35 watts peak. Both amps will provide around the same amount of power in all likelihood. Is there a reason you need a super small amp? You can pick up a decent receiver for about $100-$120 from accessories4less which will have a ton more features and power.

Your best best is probably craigslist an old receiver. It's amazing what you can get for $50-100 compared to a new product.

I don't know where you live, but a quick look in my area and I see someone is selling this thing for only $55.

7.1 Onkyo 80w per channel with modern features like HDMI and stuff.

You should be able to find a deal like that almost anywhere. Look for Onkyo, Denon, Yahama, Sony.

Craigslist FTW. audio technology doesn't change much, you can pick up some real bargains for nothing. I got a 150 wpc yamaha stereo receiver for $120 only about 8 years old, new it was close to $1000

A cheap used receiver isn't necessarily any better than a cheap T-amp, it really depends how good a bargain you find. When you buy a new receiver for $200-500 (specially in the last 10-20 years) you're paying for a lot more than just the amp components... Decoding licenses, remote, DAC, etc. If you don't need any of that it's pointless to pay for it (even if you're getting it for a third of the original price), specially when it may not do any better of a job than smaller/more efficient equipment. I'm just saying, not any old receiver is gonna be inherently better.
