How do you put a computer to do timeless mode, using the console?

use the console cammand -config and then say yes to adv options and go to the line for timeless and set it to yes

I've got a question re:timeless. What does this mean exactly, that it will download one WU that basically has no deadline but once it's complete the CPU will then be idle? I am left hoping that is not the case and it is instead like the old GAH, working and working on a WU until there is once again a net connection to upload the results.

Timeless just means that there's no deadline.... the client will still send and receive another WU when finished... it's mainly just used on boxen that A) don't have continuous/reliable net access.... or B) are too slow to meet the protein's deadline

Keep on Folding!!

There is another setting for timeless units that it will ask you. You can set it to queue up WUs instead of connecting to the net after every one. This will download 10 WUs for it to work. On a slower system, this will keep it busy for a while. You'll still need to check on the system to see when you need to upload the results.

Okay, I was hoping that's what one of the advanced settings did. The one I'm thinking of is something like reduced network requirements that I enabled. I have to get over there and check out the machine to see how it worked out.

That would be the one. It's been a while since I set anything up on timeless so I don't remember all the settings.
