Question on reservoirs...

I'm making plans and sketching my watercooling setup. Since the A05 cases are a bit tight of a space, I can still manage as to mounting the acrylic reservoir outside the case and have the tubes go in.

My concern is, is there any consequence having the reservoir exposed outside, like possible exposure to sunlight and could cause some sort of molding ? Or anything else ?
 
No, I assume you mean microbial growth since the acrylic won't deform from exposure to light, maybe to extreme (160C MP, 200C BP) temperatures.

Just use a coil or copper sulfate in solution.
 
yea that would be algae growth. use de-ionized water and some PT nuke and problem solved:)
 
I have found that a couple of teaspoons of bleach takes care of it as well.

Make sure you post up pics here when you do the project! :D

Dear GOD NOOOOOOOOO! Never never never ever put bleach in a WCing loop, it will react with any and all copper turning it black and doing God only knows what to the heat transfer.

dont believe me, get a plastic container, fill with water, put in just a splash of bleach and drop a few new pennies in. Come back in a few days and look at pennies.

I used bleach on one of my old old systems. I got the maze waterblock cleaned up but with the new ones with all the little pins in the bottom, no clue how to clean except with some other chemicals and a toothbrush and a lot of scrubbing. The rad there is no way to manually clean the black off. It still worked OK but I have to wonder how much better it would have been if I had not put the bleach in. On the other hand, nothing ever grew in it, that much is for sure.

route your hoses the right way and you dont even really need a resevoir. just a T connection and a length of hose. it makes filling/bleeding a little trickier, but it also makes the system silent during operation (no splashing in a partly filled reservoir).

and yes, bleach or any oxidizer is bad.
 
Just use a few drops of Petra's PT Nuke in your loop, you won't have any growth in your water.
