Question about the Lian-Li

Ok, so I was looking around for a new case, and I am also thinking about getting an 8800Ultra and was wondering if it would fit in ether of these cases; http://www.performance-pcs.com/cata...=product_info&cPath=103_104&products_id=21767

8800 Ultra is 10.5" long.
If the trays are only big enough to just accommodate an ATX board (with no space between the edge of the board and the hard drive bay), then the 8800 Ultra won't fit in either case.

Not without modifications/removal of the hard drive bay.

The 8800 Ultra might have a better chance with the A08. If the cooler didn't cover the whole card, it would fit, for sure.

With one 8800 Ultra in the very topmost slot position, it'd work. The second slot, a careful maybe. Anything lower than that and the hard-drive cage will be in the way.

But you could take the hard-drive cage out, and put your hard drives in the 5¼" bays, with one of Lian-Li's EX-23 (silver / black) or EX-23N (silver / black) or EX-33 (silver / black) or EX-34 (silver / black). Then it wouldn't be an issue—at the expense of some 5¼" bays, of course.

Dion't bother with the 8800Ultra. The new G92 8800GTS 512MB performs on par with or better than the 8800Ultra and costs much much less:

So I recommend getting the 8800GTS 512MB since it's cheaper yet still provides a decent amount of performance and is shorter than the 8800Ultra as shown here (GTX and Ultra are the same length):

I knew the 8800 GTS G92 was on par with the GTS but not the Ultra. I am thinking of picking up a pair of XFX G92's then. But I still want a larger case, and am a fan of Lian-Li's.

I'd like Danny Bui to back up that statement before advising you to switch over to G92's.

In either case, the G92's are a better buy. Not necessarily faster, but money saved is always good.

And to finish:

In HardOCP's review of the 8800GTS, the 8800GTS G92 was only 1 to 2FPS behind the GTX though the GTX/Ultra did allow for a higher level of AA. In Anadtech's review, the G92 GTS performed pretty close to the 8800Ultra and in only a few situations was it outright beaten by more than 10-20FPS.

So if you're buying new, I would recommend the G92 GTS since it is cheaper and offers about/near the same amount of performance of the GTX and Ultra. Yes, I should not have said that the G92 8800GTS performed better than the Ultra but I still stand by my recommendation since as shown as in the two links aboves, the G92 GTS did provide gaming performance comparable and close to the more expensive GTX and Ultra. In terms of performance to price, the G92 8800GTS is a better buy. In terms of performance, the Ultra is a better choice if you're willing to stomach the higher prices for it.
