Question about non-conductive liquid...

I am making my first venture into watercooling, and I must admit I am slightly neverios about the whole thing. I am getting this kit:

https://www.dangerdenstore.com/product.php?productid=12

Then, I had a few spare bucks to spend, so I was gunna get some UV 1/2" tubing and a tube cutter from frozencpu, but then I saw this:

http://www.frozencpu.com/ex-liq-04.html?mv_pc=117

This stuff seemed like the answer to my prayers, as it would remove all my worries of going to a watercooling setup. I was about to order, and then something dawned on me. That 4oz bottle of coolant that comes with the kit. I am assuming that coolent is something you would mix with water to help it cool better, correct? Well, what about the Fluid XP? Anyone know if that coolant that comes with the kit is conductive, coz that would ruin the idea of non-conductive water. Also, if I got the FluidXP, would I even need the other coolant? Also, I believe that bottle is a half gallon. One bottle will be more than enough right?

Any help woudl be appriciated, I would like to get this ordered ASAP.

even if you have "non-conductive" fluid.. you are aware that things can still get messed up because of leaks no??

Most of the reviews I have read on the FluidXP, the people poored some on their components and they kept on working like a champ. THe makers did a demostration by half submerging a motherboard in it and ran it fine. Thats enough to convice me.

just odn't let it get into your ass crack... LOL..

nah, i guess.. it's definatly an extra measure of protection..

I understand that there could still be a risk, but its not like im putting my PC in a fish tank filled with it either. I just like the idea that if it leaks I am fine, or since im in my PC all the time, if I knock a hose loose, I am fine. Also, the fact that it cannot get goodies like algea and lubes the plastic in the pump is always nice.

So let me get this straight. Does this stuff run alone at 100% strength?

**EDIT**

I did some reading and it seems that the temps for this arent the greatest but the non-conductivity is excellent for the chicken-hearted.

What I saw, there was a 1-3C difference. I am not going to worry about a difference that minimal. I will use this for a whlie, and if I go a few months problem free, I will switch to water. I coudlnt find anything on the DangerDen stuff, so I went with the FluidXp

As far as running alone, I have come to the conclusion that thats how it should be done. Adding anything to its thats conductive would ruin the whole point. If/when I switch to water, I will use an additive like water wetter...

Ive heard the anti corrosive stuff in fluidxp doesnt last 6 months, so you may want to keep an eye on it.

That would suck. I heard its shelf life is 5 years, change it every 2-3 to be safe. Do you have a source (a review or something) where they said it wears off, or was that just someones personal experiance?

Either way, I will watch for that, thanks.

Ive heard it from a couple of people on here, I havent heard of any professional longevity testing of fluidxp though.

I bought fluid xp and it was utter crap!!! I had to drain my system after only 5 months of usage only to discover that the fluid caused my block and radiator to corrode. It ruined my blocks aluminum barbs but thanks to polarflo they sent me another since i couldnt get the barbs off to be replaced. Dont get fluid xp... its pricey and it started clouding up and depositing white junk all over my tubes after one month. Im using hydrx now and im very happy. You can also find it at swiftech for $1.85 a bottle! Pair that with a $0.98 gallon of distilled water and your good to go! thats less than 3 bucks to fill your loop up vs the 35+ bucks for that junk. Also, i didnt have one of my hoses down tight enough and the hydrx got on my video card... i noticed some artifacts during gaming and saw a small puddle building on top of the card (thank goodness for hydrx being UV reactive!!) Anyways, i wiped it off with a dry paper towel and turned my computer back on. It was just fine and dandy after that. So make the right choice! go hydrx or something similar

Yeah, just read you posted that in another thread. Not getting it anymore. Just using distilled water and HydriX. Will that be enough? Should I use any additional additives?

nope, glad i could help with your decision... i was in the same position your in when i was setting up my first watercooled pc :) I was worried that it would leak and i would loose my expensive pc and thats why i got fluid xp. It made me so mad when it started clouding up and it was making my temps skyrocket. I finally emptied it and you can imagin my response to the corrosion! It only took less than 5 months to corrode the aluminum barbs!!
Also, I tried to contact fluid xp several times and it took them 2 months to get back to me. I tried contacting them again and no response. As far as im concerned they are con-artist out to take our money!
Just make sure your connections are tight and you should be ok... and if a leak should happen, dont panic... turn off the pc... dry off... and it should be fine. Im just using hydrix with distilled water so thats all you need. :D Happy watercooling :)
