I have a Asus Striker extreme i was thinking about going with a different board like Maximus Extreme. My question is the hardware i have on my striker can it be transfered to the Maximus Extreme? is so what type of issues will i come across? what about SLi? is the Maximus compatible for this configuration? Is this a good board? can somebody recommend a better board. Is the1401 Bios update for the striker extreme availible? if so where?

Tanks

What is your reason for switching boards? And by 'transferring' do you mean like the cables??

Reason I ask is because I don't really see a reason for you to transfer anything because buying a new board usually means you get all the features for that particular board in the box (ie few cables, i/o slots. If you mean trying to transfer the heatsink or anything off the striker and onto the maximus well you will have to make sure that the pin diagram for the mounting of the hardware is the same. I wouldn't really recommend moving around this type of hardware anyway as there is very little point to do it.

Maximus Extreme is an intel chipset board and will not do SLI. Xfire only. So based on your listed video cards that board is a no-go.

You have about as good as it gets for an SLI board and will probally just be wasting money to upgrade. However its all good fun and if you want to upgrade you should be looking at the new 780i boards just released/due any day now. Be sure to check if the issue with quad core penryn cpus has been resolved before you buy if you think you might want to upgrade the cpu next year.
