Quake Live!

I want this so bad, I put all my friends e-mails in it and told them to give me the key if they get it :p

I personally thought Quake 3 ruined the Quake series. Unless they make drastic changes to game play, I don't see myself playing this.

The beta sign up is broken. If you put in your email it says "Success. Your email has been sent" but then I check my email and there's nothing. I tried this with other email addresses I've had and still the same thing.

It doesn't send you an email unless your chosen for the beta.

Then it's pointless for it to say "Your email has been sent.":p

It just means it's been received by them. Do you want it to say Failed, you will not be invited instead?

Can't take screenshots, I tried as I mentioned earlier, it just posts a gray square instead of a screenshot

Having played it, QL isn't worth really worth anyone's time. It is still in beta so there is small hope id could make this a great free game. Small hope.

How does this thing work in a browser? Is there a program you have to install or is there something like when you load the web page, it loads a 30mb file? I want to know how the technology works.

To my understanding the game itself is not browser based, just all the leaderboard stuff and matchmaking (correct me if I am wrong).

It's completely browser based.

"A free web client version of Quake Arena (or Quake III Arena), where players can log on and engage in combat right on their PC systems over a standard web browser. Gameplay will be free for users, with advertising support to pay for usage."

Probably similar to how games like Gunbound work. I know that doesn't say much, but it has been done before to an extent (browser based gaming I mean). Another example would be Runescape.

Runscape is some sort of Java or Flash, and I think Gunbound is totally stand alone and does not play in a browser.

With QL you install a plugin and it allows you to play it in the browser. It's 100 percent OpenGL, no clue how they do it. But it's just like the regular Q3, it even has that blue console that loads everything up prior to launching and all. It's not flash or java or anything like that.

I thought the game just launched from the browser. You're telling me it's literally played inside the browser?

Neat-o

Yep.

Also, it will include Quake III Team Arena as well, the expansion pack where you can suicide into a nuclear explosion. :D
