Hello all

Just wanted to know how this works, their web site is kinda sparse on info.


Has any one used it and if so could you tell me about your experience with it, and in supporting it?

My company is looking to support this and I need to give my opinion on it by tomorrow morning. While I am searching the web / calling NComputing to get more info I was hoping to pick ya all's brain on it also.

What other products are you comparing it to or considering instead?
 
looking at supporting all their products, the thin clients, the weird usb/pci based thin clients, and their vspace stuff.

One quick question I have is what exactly is there vspace server, is it just another way to do a terminal server, they mention you can have multiple users connected to server 2008r2 2003, and xp. but not windows 7. while the XP seems nice it is dated, and if they just support 08r2 and 2003, why not just run them as a TS?

I work for a IT firm and we are just thinking of adding ncomputing to our list of supported devices/configuration since we work a bit with school districts. so wanted to get a line on everything.
 
i've implement vspace on windows 2008 r2 standard server with LG monitors that has thin client integrated. We are not satisfied with the result. There are still problems with it. The best part is they told us that those monitors wasn't very popular so they abandoned them completely and there is no support at all...Base on this experience i can't recommend it.
Oh and we implemented it in school.
 
NComputing is crap, run far far away.
We use about 60 of their thin clients to connect to a windows terminal server. They frequently disconnect from the servers when in use, they won't re-connect. They have to be power cycled to connect to the server again. USB pass through is hit or miss, and occasionally they won't pickup dhcp addresses and have to be set to static.
Their support is pretty bad as well.
 
I've had nothing but bad luck with both the solution and their support. My company did work for a school district that used it, it was pitched to them as a miracle product and it caused nothing but headaches and grief.
 
thanks for the info, I figure I will recommend to support it but not recommend it based on what ya all telling me.
 
If you're in the support line that bills hourly. It sounds like its a great product to boost your bottom line and then piss off your customers.

So you can bill them again for the solution to the solution.

Kind of like government ;)
 
We implemented a large number of their M series thin client about 5 years ago, I work for a school district. We're now getting rid of them and looking for a better thin client solution. My opinion is it's fine for small kiosk pods that just need a web browser that may do some light video watching over the web. I don't feel it can handle anything more than that. We had issues with Office just bombing the whole system if it was anything more than Word, audio and video issues constantly, issues with group policies being applied in all sessions properly, any real space between the host and client reduced the quality greatly and the support was meh at best. They came in a couple times and never really solved any of our issues. Would not recommend for anything outside of stand alone pods.
 
not optimistic about what I'm hearing because these thin clients were going to be an option for us. Has it matured any because no one has anything positive to say about it so far.
 
If anything they have de-matured lol. The last firmware for our L130s actually made them worse and their support days they can't be downgraded to a earlier version.
Thankfully we will be replacing all of our ncomputing stuff soon for Dell 9010s running embedded win 7.
 
anyone have any other suggestions for thin client setups. This is only for about ~100 users. L300 thin clients. I've read a few reviews elsewhere and they seem positive about this model but I have my suspicions they might shills.
